Yo Ninja

Buy a 550 or keep the 360. If you keep the 360, you might want to look at having the camber settings re-programmed, chucking in an induction pack and having some different dampers. Then it will go like hell and handle more satisfactorily (assuming this is your issue with the 360). Cast your mind back to that mad blast we did in Central London with Manu and Co. (when you had the 355). Both I (red 550) and Okey (red 360) were not running standard camber settings .....or brake pads for that matter. IMHO the standard rari setup on both cars (360 and 550) is not quite right and there is plenty of scope for improvement.

I think Diablos are difficult to sell on, but would love to hear from any owners what they think of the market for their car?

You’re right, I think it is a difficult car to sell on. In reality the market for sale is essentially limited to either the specialist Lambo dealers (Sant Agata, Modena, etc) or a few of the high-performance specialists in p/x for something else. My own theory is that my car will go back to Sant Agata when it’s time to upgrade to the 6.0L.

Obviously, depreciation is expected (how much is anyone’s guess), and the more you put in the more you’re liable to lose, but if you get a car that is going to retain your interest / love for a couple of years then you’ll cut down on the 15/20k bid/offer spread each time you change.

Be it a Diablo or a Murci, it’s not a car that you’re going to get bored of quickly!

After seeing half a dozen Diablos, he realised that he was a BMW man at heart....

well ninja, nice dilemma to have to be sure!
However if I was in your place I'd have to go for a 550. It's a classic looking bit of kit, goes like the proverbial, sounds great, and isn't an audi As you say you're unlikely to loose 'that' much on it as they are seeming to bottom out at around the 50-70 mark depending.

Besides, you could be one of the only people in the world to 'trade down' to a 550, so for that novelty factor alone, I'd do it!
Good luck whatever you pick though

If it was me (and I wish it was!) I would go for the Challenge Stradale. That will be the best resaleable and surley the most useable.

The Murci is tempting though.....very tempting, especially if they are as useable and reliable as I have heard....

F40 is awesome (followed 2 Mans last year) but not useable at all. Just watched Martin Brundles Supercars the other day on DVD and he tried driving it through Hampstead!!! Nightmare!!

Flash you're supposed to tell him to buy a 3200!
As for the F40, I wouldn't mind having a go at driving one around london (or anywhere for that matter...) Saw one being driven around bracknell last summer, must have been lost....

I would attempt to push him in the Maser direction but feel he's in the next division!! I'm loving mine and the guys at the hand car valet place today said it was the nicest car they had ever cleaned!!

Where do you go from a 360 Spider? Murcielago or Challenge stradale for me. Driven a Diablo and as nice as it was, £5k for a new clutch would put me back in hospital permanently!!!

Why not buy your 355 back AND join P1?

The 355 really is hard to beat, as you're now finding

The P1 idea really does have some merit for you though Ninja by the sounds of it.

Join for a year, try as many as you can, then buy a good example of the one you love most (or keep trying!).

This must be ninja's special theory of relativity!

Seriously though, the V12 with a Tubi sounds absolutely fantastic. And didn't it win the Autocar best handling car of the year once? That would be my choice were I fortunate enough to have such a quandry.

well on the Koenigsegg front.... I know of someone that took his on the Gumball.... It broke down every few miles, he had to buy a new car to use the radiator cap for a 250k car.... Not forgetting two clutches a burst pipe, it dumping its content of oil, the speedo blowing up at 240mph and the check engine light coming on. He then decided to employ the services of the local fix it man to follow him to make sure if he broke down it could be fixed!

Now how about a Pagani? I saw one not too long ago and I must say i was amazed. Am amazing looking car, only 6 in the UK, and an amazing sound.

Might be a bit too expensive though.......

How about a hummer...... duck for the slap!

NSX type R??

Trade down from the 360, have some £ in the bank & enjoy the Jap take on the 360CS. OK a fair bit less grunt admitidly, but, glorious sound & should be as reliable as a civic & if you pay the right price(i.e not list!) could get out with minimal losses?...

Or cheaper again- pork GT3 mk1, LHD are very (in your terms) cheap now, 360 quick & glorious noise with a bullet proof engine. I can't see you being happy with a regular 996 but this could be right up your alley- so to speak. (so could a GT2- which are indeed balistic esp when modified but think you prefer the normily aspirated feel & noise?)

Anyway seeing as you copied that Simon Cowell bloke with your dancing donkey, shouldnt you follow his lead & look at an Aston......

ps I still think you are being a big tart ref the Gallardo- I think its ace so there

PS - MARA, the porker is going great guns (Bruntingthorpe and a trip to Germany already booked for this year), trust all is well and you've still got the monster jeep, have you imported any TVRs into the US yet?

Daz mate,

Getting that big bugger sideways is about as exciting as it gets over here. However, the thing can't get past 71mph (even after a good few minutes of pedal to floor action). I have always nailed it off the line to trying to remember that I am still a PHer. Now I've discovered what material lies under the tyre rubber Waiting for a new set of rubber at the mo.

The TVR thing is still on but I keep reading more and more threads about S6 engines blowing which is putting me off. Also not sure how I will get around servicing issue so I am thinking about skipping the Tussy and getting a V8 Cerb. I ideally want the Tuscan here though but might have to plump for the Lotus 340R.
****************************

Ali, if you do sort out an F40 (fantastic idea by the way) I will try to sneak out the keys to the old mans' and we'll go for a hearty blatt. Seriously, F40 ownership is one of those things you have to do if you are able.

Regarding the Gallardo: I was completely against the car but I had a really good look at a black/black and yellow/black on up in Ft Lauderdale. I am coming around to the bugger. I can't get over just how small it is though.

If sir is feeling a tad gangster may I suggest this abomination?

Thank you gentlemen (and Mr "I love you Rachel") for you ideas.

Murph, I've been invited to join P1, received the literature in the post about two weeks ago, but judging by the points system, I'll be able to get about 2 weekends in the summer in a Murcielago, or a 360 spider??? Might be an idea though just to see what the cars are all like, maybe just use them during the week in spring or winter and get more use.

Regarding the Vanquish, I feel that's more suited to an OLDER gentlemen, for example KEVIN. Lovely car though, and I'll defo get one (most likely DB9) in a few years, if I have the means to, when I'm suitable OLD enough Not hinting anything, Kevin, me 'old' mate

I don't fancy another 355, it just looks too dated for me. 360 isn't the worst car in the world, *I* just dont love it. Perhaps that would improve if handling did, but its not the worst handling car either? Its just lost *something*?? Or maybe I'm going mad?

I'll brew on this for another week or two, if I don't get THIS Murci, I'm sure there'll be others along, maybe I'll end up paying £5-10K more, but at least I'll do it when I'm totally happy to do so. Which I'm currently not, it didn't impress me enough. Maybe I need more seat time in the bugger?

Anyway thanks for the suggestions!

Edited to add:

alex, I really can't resolve the looks of the Gallardo, and feel wise, it seems overpriced at 117K. I'd get one if they were circa £90K, thats what I feel they are worth, and I reckon they'll lose value very quickly personally. To me, its not a 117K car. I'd get one because of its capability, not looks.

Anyway, you're slimy, what do you know about cars?

ps. didnt mean the 550 or 996TT are cheap, just cheaper than either the 360 spider or Murci!! didn't mean to sound like a prick! sorry.

Kevin, the references to Simon Cowell were/are pretty painful.

You know those pictures of the amercan love wagon were for you. However, I do feel that they may well suit Manu! I can see him driving up and down Egham High Street with the window open enjoying the view! The car well also help his bad back.
