Anyone here gone from Tvr to Ferrari? I'm in the throws of trading my T350C in for a 355GTS. The car's black, with 19000 miles, and 3 previous owners. It's with the main Ferrari dealer up here, who also are the TVR dealer, so fingers crossed, I'll get the trade in price I'm after, tommorow
The car comes with the years warranty (cant remember the name) and will have a belt change before sale. I'm in a new zone here, so any tips would be great, see the car here>>> www.dealers.motortrak.com/detail?template=/glenvarigill/hitlistdetail&vid=1260674&dealer
Cheers,
Stewart.

Hi, I sold my TVR Chimaera after 3 years and bought a 348TB then sold the TB after 3 years and bought a 456GT I never regret a minute of it.
Try FROSTIE he owned a cerbera and a F355 and now has a Tamora and a 550 Maranello. Search on the Members directory.

Cheers
G.

DO IT !!!!!

Having owned both brands simultaneously, if I was given the choice between a new TVR ( say a T350 ) or 355 I would pick the 355 every single time. In terms of build quality and general engineering TVR do not come close and its easy to see why Ferrari's are twice the price. Owning a TVR is special but a Ferrari is VERY special you will smile EVERY single time you get in, start it and hit the loud pedal.

With 355's in my experience there are three things to look out for :-

1. Cracked manifolds - this is a common problem. It is likely that a '98 car may have had them done or they are close to going.

2. Door kick plates. These have a tendancy to bubble due to rust and eventually the plastic coating peels away. Get them done as part of puchase if they look as if they are going. Its about £400 to get the pair done.

3. Rusting/Bubbling where roof pillar meets rear quarter panels - Happens on all cars but is not cheap to get done. Make sure any purchase does not have this. Most dealers fix before sale.

Check when cambelts were done on car you are thinking of purchasing if > 1 year try and ensure the dealer dones them as part of purchase as it will save you an expensive service going forward. To get a Formula Warranty they have to be done if less than a year until they are due.

Yes I had a Griffith then a Cerbera then the 355.....

Ferrari is a different experience....TVR's are fantastic fun ......ridiculously fast and jaw dropping looks..... however the niggles (well on the cerb not the Griff) got me down. 355 is reliable so far...had it 14 months and done over 15k miles in it....sure it is a little expensive to service but no more than the £1.5-2k for each cerbie servie i had in 10 months of ownership....

Build quality is superb...interior can get a little dull but hey that is all

Lokks great - get a decat tubi for proper sound and a little more poke and then Gruppe M it so that it goes as well as a 360....top car....I know a few 360 owners who have switched out of 360's back to 355's as the 355 has a lot of character.....enjoy it and good luck...

PS... for the door sills - longer term cheaper option...carbon fibre sills ....look great and never rust....

I concur with all of the above had a chimp and two Cerbies before moving to a 355 then a 360 and the Ferraris are certainly more special to own than the TVRs - you won't regret a 355 - all the best!

Ditto with all the replies, I had 5 TVRs the a 355, now a 360.

Ferraris are much better built despite what some (mostly TVR owning) people will try and tell you.

Go for it!!

The decision depends on what you want the car for IMO.

I currently own a Chim which my wife uses as an everyday car, top off however cold it gets. We also have a 355 Spider which we take out only on nice days and for European tours.
