I think I want a Spyker!
Discussion
I like the Spyker. If i had one it would have to be a soft top like in the film War with Jet Li. I love the way the door pops up in the film when he remote starts it. It would have to have the metal steering wheel as well not the normal looking one. Not really a fan of audi engines although it sounds pretty good.
Have you considered a Bristol Fighter?

Have to say I still think they look stunning, do they do RHD and how much do they go for I wonder?
Hi Bertie,Just like normal I am a little late into the PH thread..! But better late than never..!!
I have been reading the thread with interest it is nice to hear lots of different opinions on the Spyker, as mentioned in earlier posts I am or was for the last 3 years the sole representative for Spyker in the UK with Broughtons and sold all but one of the Spykers into the UK so know them incredibly well. I have now moved to open a new business in London on Park Lane where we will look after special vehicles.
From reading your posts and comments I think you would be an ideal Spyker owner. The car really is not for everyone but it is for someone who has done most things and is looking for that car that is something a little special and a little different. Personally I love the Spyker I think it captures everything I look for in a car. It has many classic elements in both its styling and also in the way in which it drives, but combines this with an Audi lump giving a good amount of power and best of all reliability, I have never had to recover one of these cars from the side of the road nor have I in the thousands and thousands of miles I have done in the cars ever been let down. Most of all for the money you get Pagani exclusivity at a quarter of the cost.
What I would like to do is invite you to the showroom in London for a coffee and a chat about the cars and the brand to see what you think and answer any burning questions you might have. We have a couple of vehicles in the showroom to give you an idea of the cars and if you like I can borrow a Laviolette (Coupe) from a friend if you wanted to see the difference.
Let me know how we can be of assistance it is always lovely talking to someone at the start of their voyage to owning a Spyker.

I love the Spyker. The styling has a nice artistic and retro element, not to mention the great exclusivity which sets it apart from the typical Gallardo and F430. Really lovely cars to see.
Here are some of my photos of the LM85 at Broughtons from February:

LM85 is nice, its a great idea for a limited edition and the Spykers are always a pleasure to see at the Le Mans Series events. For me it would be a normal C8 Spyder or Laviolette though.
Incidentally are there different styles of roofs for the Spyder, the only reason I ask is there is a definate difference between the white car in the the picture below and one of the pics from your Flickr account (also below) ?
The roof on the white car is not nice whereas the one on the green car fits much nicer.
Regards
Tim

When I was 9 I wrote to broughtons asking for a rolls Royce brochure. Despite my age you sent me three really amazing quality brochures!
Because of this I recommended your firm to 2 acquaintances to buy continental GTs which they did. Bravo for your firm being nice to me all those years ago!
Apologies for hi jack, but never got the chance to give the feedback.
Hi Tim
Not just two different roofs but two completely different body shells.
The original cars (like the black car in your pictures) were built at CPP in Coventry like the new Aileron. These cars were never intended to utilise a roof. So a very aftermarket one was created using a frame and tono which covered this frame the shape was lovely and it looks great on the only trouble is you fill the boot with the frame and roof fabric if you choose to take it down and with you on a journey.
In 2007/08 Spyker switched production of their bodies to Karmann with this came a redesign of the body based on the same shape but wider and longer. The car had some more air intakes along the front and side to make it a little more agressive looking. The biggest change was the roof. Instead of the frame the new Karmann roof sits behind the driver and passenger seat when down and lifts up and over the top of the car. The advantage is it does not take up any space when down and you always carry it around. Disadvantage is it is not the best looking thing when closed.
Hope this answered your question...!
Tom
p.s thanks for the comments on Broughtons is was not me who sent you the brochures but it was a great firm to work for I had a lot of fun there.

All I can say is that as a Woman (grown one at that!) I ADORE the Spyker and in particular the Spyder. Have to have it with full Sports mode and it is just orgasmic when you hear the noise. Can't beat it and I love the car. Seen one regularly and they are just the top of the league when it comes to noise and far beats a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Would buy one any day!
... have a look at www.spykerowner.com for more information about Spykers.
