Just thought I'd field the question quickly as everyone that I know to answer this one is sleeping.

What kind of budget would be required to field a 360 team? I know this is a vague question so advanced appologies.

Take into consideration cars, mechanics, drivers, parts, travel etc. Of course sponsors would cover something but I am looking for a figure to put in my proverbial pipe and smoke.

Cheers

From a vaguely remembered conversation with a Challenge racer a couple of years ago, it works out at roughly £250-300K for a seasons racing. You get the car (which you keep IIRC) and entry to the races for something like £120K, then you pay transport and a daily rate for a mechanic, hotels etc. The major discretionary spend is testing, which costs just as much as racing. If you've seen any of these races you know you'll need the services of a good body shop too.

Make no apologies for any inaccuracies- it was a while ago now MARA. I do remember thinking "'kin hell" though! Get the impression that most of the sponsorship you see is for peanuts/the guys own company. You may get a tax break by running it off a company marketing budget.

You could do it cheaper than that. Chap in my area group bought a 360 Challenge with a couple of seasons under it for ca. £80K. He's using it for track days this year and will compete next season.

Cheers, our old man coughed up for a 355 challenge team a few years ago so I would like to follow suit as soon as possible.

After seeing the kind of money Bernie's pad by us went for the racing team costs don't seem like a bargin.

In fact, I just saw a 360 Challenge for sale a few minutes ago. The rawness of the car appeals to me more than I care to reveal

What would it take for these cars to become road legal? I know the Stradale is available but I do like the idea of having one straight off the track. Waht do you think?

Can't imagine it would take much to make them road legal. Watched some 360 Challenge racing at Brands a couple of years back and seem to remember reading that they are only lightly modified and the 348 and 355 challenge cars turned up in street form sooner or later.

There's a 360 Challenge car at the Motor Show this week (you know if you're coming up yet?) looking gorgeous in Motorola livery.

(not my pic - borrowed from poster on Ferrarichat)

Budget? No idea, though judging by the huge pile of knackered front and rear air dams at Brands you'd better leave plenty in reserve for 'racing incidents'. I know who you could ask though. Ate at a great Italian on Friday night (Da Silvano's) and was a Tifosi's dream. Apart from the superb food and celeb spotting, there were Ferrari flags and posters up and a spanking new 360 CS parked outside looking gorgeous (licence plate 'Stradale'!). A quick google revealed that the restaurant sponsors a Challenge team:

That's what I'm after. Bit of race history and perspex windows will keep me happy.

I maybe talking bishop, but Damax (who race-prepare Ferraris for the challenge) offered F355s for a season for £50K you didn't keep the car at the end). They prepped it and transported it, the only thing you'd pay for is unbending the bodywork (which could double your budget !)

Not sure what the prices for the 360s are

Cheers. I really fancy a challenge 355 for the road. Again, I saw a few here www.carclassic.com/html/FERRARI-F355.htm

However, I want one that looks like the 355 pic in the 355 challenge menu.

Any ideas where to look and what, if anything, need to be done to make them road legal>
