I own a series of cars, one of which is an 8 months old 996 TT by Techart. A new Porsche is on its way, and thus I want to trade the 996 TT. Some options have been proposed like the Gallardo, the Maranello, a AMG SL55 Performance etc. One car that I have always fancied is the Diablo in its 6.0 shape. There was apparently a very special last run of 40 cars in gold and drak brown. Anyone have any experience with these? Anyone any comments in general what I should be looking for? I am yet to drive the Gallardo and the SE, have driven my other choices.

Thanks

Someone on www.ferrarichat.com has one. Don't like the colour combination myself.

I am told that only three se's came to the UK and they were painted (for the UK market) in pearl yellow, pearl orange and black cos the dealer thought they would'nt be able to sell them in the "standard" colours. This said they all sold as the first Murcky's hit the UK so still a strong demand for them then. How desirable they are now I would'nt know (Im not in the market for one cos' I could'nt afford one!)

Short ratio transmission(a £2,500 option on the standard car), gold coloured sand cast heads, titanium weave exposed carbon fibre in the cabin and on the exterior sills, electric seat backs(big deal)and Lamborghini branded brake calipers. One for someone who realy wants a 6.0 and wants the last of an icon I guess.

Anyone here got one of the UK cars wants to comment?

There was also a dark grey 6.0 SE.

The short ratio gearbox is a slightly shorter 6th gear ratio. In reality it made little to no difference (I can't remember the stats - but the difference is tiny).

The interior carbon fibre weave was different (had a metallic weave) - the brakes are the same - albeit stamped with the lamorghini script - and their was a painted magnesium engine cover.

The 6.0 Litre Diablo's IMHO are the best of the lot (with the exception of the GT - but that was only LHD) - and so if you're in a position to purchase - then just do it!
