I remember threads a while back on how the AMG engines were "impossible to source" unless sufficient numbers were ordered and that there would never be another Zonda. Either he's ordered enough engines to AMG to turn the taps on again or those stories weren't quite accurate.
And I was the one that supplied that infor. The "Street" engines are no longer available, mainly because they are not emissions compliant anymore. They can be ordered in a minimum batch of 5 but Zonda could have trouble registering the cars. Also they are stupidly expensive

The Engine in the Blue R above is a 6 litre AMG race engine therefore does not need to comply with anything really. If you can afford one AMG will build it.

The new Zonda's that seem to keep appearing are actually Zonda F's in the main that are being upgraded, usually after a crash
The engines are completely different between the R and "street" versions. The engine in the R is a stressed member, so they're not interchangable (or at least within reason).

No not sold. Just going off to be placed for sale.
Out of interest, how come you have decided to sell? Is it being replaced with anything? (sorry for the questions).

NRS, I did not mean you could replace a the race engine with the street engine, I was just answering the question about availablity. But your right about the lack of interchangeability, they are very different engines plus the 6 litre would not not last on the street for long

Sorry, I hadn't been thinking you meant that. I was just highlighting how the shortage of engines for the street Zonda has nothing to do with those for the R, since they are completely different.

As it is already LHD it could be ideal for darksider if he hasn't already bought the GJ.
Both owners of that Zonda and the GJ have already reached out to me - it's a tough choice!

Have you considered Gavin's red and gold beauty now it's up for sale? Already had the choice upgrades, nice colour scheme etc.

Zonda's..

I have seen one on the road (Birmingham) and one in a showroom (London) they are great cars, but I don't think they are worth the price tag, I would want buy one (if I could afford it) but for the price they cost I would have to have a real think about it.

I do think the Zonda's are much better then the Huyura's, I have seen two Huyura's in London and seen the one driving, they just don't look very nice to me, I preferred the G63 that was following it..

I've just spent a very enjoyable hour or so drooling over the photos in this thread and getting really educated about Zondas generally - fascinating stuff and, if Euromillions ever obliges, I've decided that I desire a Zonda more than ever.

Big question though: as of mid-March darksider was seemingly on the verge of making a purchase, so what happened next? The cars under consideration still appear to be available.

Btw, the thread started with this question: 'Is a Zonda really worth it?' Anyone disagree with my answer of "Too f*cking right it's worth it!"?

Not to be argumentative but yes I disagree with your answer . They have never really done it for me and the later ones are repulsive .

Fair enough! The later ones with the snorkels, extra fins etc certainly are repulsive, but give me a cleaner S or F with some subtle upgrades anyday.

Also, looks are subjective, but what about the sound of that glorious engine?

Not heard anything more. The GJ has been back in Scotland for a bit.

Engine sounds great but the 2 zonda f's I drove had great torque and were very fast but I didn't like the characteristics of the engine . Just when I thought it would go mental it ran out of puff / revs. It needs a screaming top end . I much prefer a Cgt or f50 and it's exactly the comparison to those two cars that make me think it's not worth it .
I like the zonda as a work of art but that's about it I'm afraid .

Saw my first on the road on Saturday. So beautiful, even with the colour-coded rear.

Just to satisfy my curiosity - is the GJ available for sale or not? As of when I'm typing this post, it's listed on the Amian Cars website, accompanied by lots of pretty photos from a showroom, surrounded by vehicles that appear to be consistent with that dealer's stock. So, was it in the showroom for the photos, but physically retained by the owner until some point when a deal is made?

It should be for sale, but a lot of cars like it are SOR (sale or return). So I guess since it's not sold at the moment the owner will sometimes use it if he wants.

I am still on the hunt. It's tough because the Zonda's that are for sale are scattered all across Europe and I live in North America. And of course, work is time consuming (you can't afford a car like this unless you are hustling as much as I am). Then there is the issue of figuring out if the Zonda I get can be upgraded to a 760 spec. Oh and did I mention how much of a hassle it is to import a European car into America? I honestly never thought buying my dream car would be this stressful but hopefully it will all work out!
