What happened to your original C12 nose , did they keep it / throw it. Or have you still got it? Just wondering as it is fairly unique in the Zonda world. I heard that Horacio has offered to buy the Yellow C12 from its lady owner, as its the only original, original left.

Why? Zonda's are like a bespoke suit. It's great to be able to actually speak to the person who designed the car to discuss options and tailor the car to exactly what you want. The appeal of a Zonda is how unique they are. In terms of performance, unless being really stupid on public roads, all these super cars are the same. You can throw away your licence if caught at over 100mph and a radical is quicker on track so there has to be something more than just 0-60 and bhp.
It's the fact that they are rebuilding a wreck and rebadging. I can rebuild a car for you and make it as good or better than original (provided its old!), but the whole idea of rebadging it as something new doesn't sit right with me. I bet that car won't be advertised in the near future like this:

"The Zonda GJ was originally a C12S that was all but written off on a test drive, However, Pagani Automobili managed to salvage the remains, and now present it for sale as the GJ Edition, an old C12S presented as something entirely new and different in immaculate, post-rebuild condition!"

To be honest though with the cost of the cars then they will look at the history of each car before buying it. Although it takes a bit of time a lot of the information is out there. For example the same could be said of Andy's car - except that it wasn't crashed. It's like F1s - when a new owner buys it they often do modifications to get it to the way they want it.

There is at least 4 Zondas that have been crashed and rebuilt from memory. However the only difference is that they've been rebuilt in original spec, or upgraded to a "normal" edition.

So people know, there are actually more than 25 F coupe versions (in a manner of speaking) in that a few extra were built to similar spec, but called by different names.

It is almost certainly true about Pagani wanting to buy the yellow C12 from it's Swiss owner, but the offer was declined (this was a few years ago).

I saw the car being talked about in this thread a few days ago. Low milage (1060 I think), but in some ways is it worth paying extra to get a car with this if you will drive it a lot? It's registered in Andorra. In my opinion it is a really nice car, but I prefer some of the others. Interestingly enough there doesn't seem to be as much movement on the earlier cars currently - a lot of people seem to be wanting the F. One of the nicest cars is this one:

http://www.jameslist.com/advert/246284/for-sale-pa...

Rarer than the F, this one was owned by a serious Zonda enthusiast before he died. He had very good links to the factory and had 3 Zondas. However I understand it's a lot of money and therefore you want the best example you can get, not just "a Zonda".

Yes, the only other red Roadster has carbon on the lower parts of the sides and a beige interior. There should only be 13 made in total, and a few of them have been upgraded to F specs.

Six Zondas have been in significant crashes. In addition to this, there have been many more smaller crashes and damaged Zondas.

PS. andy74B, could you please PM me smile

After MX5 guy gave me a heads up, i posted over on the Pagani forum.

They alerted me to the C12S for sale at Bob Forstner's. I was aware of the car but it appears to have been reduced from £650K to £499K making it more attractive

This is a brand new, unregistered car and the difference in price to the F might give me an opportunity to customise and get exactly what I want. First on my list would be uprated power. I presume you could tune the engine all the way up to 678bhp Cinque spec?

Any one here know the extent of what can be done?

Yes, there are only 2 red S Roadster and this is the one fully red one. The second red S Roadster has bare carbon on the lower sills and has Luxemburg plates.

The other S Roadsters are primarily yellow, with there being one black, one bare carbon (now 'F' Roadster), one blue, one silver and one silvery grey (to my eyes).

That is nigh on perfect to me as far as Zondas (or supercars in general) come.

The blue C12 looks good plus if you didn't need to up grade bits straight away you could keep another car and the books would still balance.

That's what I was thinking. I don't how long you would be able to wait before upgrading though. I think I'll have to make some more formal enquiries with the factory.

I gradual upgrade programme could be a lot of fun and enhance the ownership path. Plus the odd drive to the factory would be great and a shake down of the new parts for the way back.

So how do Zondas handle compared to say Enzo, LP670, Carrera GT etc?

Better? Worse? Similar? Never heard of Zondas being amazing driving machines - please correct me if I'm wrong!

You are wrong biggrin The Zonda has been tested by various people and has always been declared as one of the best handling cars around. It has been tested around the Nurburgring and the Top Gear Test Track where it has been faster on both occasions. At one time the F held the Nurburgring production car record ahead of the Carrera GT and Enzo.

So yes it does handle very well

I dug out an old copy of EVO where Harry said he was quoted 169,400 Euros to change his S in to and F.

That doesn't sound too ridiculous.

If I could get the S for the right money and then get the upgrades I want, that could be great.

I wonder though, whether it will always be seen by others (thinking resale) that it's not a real F.
