MODS: Garlick has allowed me to post this here on the back of the success of Caring with Cars. The Raleigh Rally - 2nd October 2011 - Sherborne Castle, Dorset
We held this event back in 2009 for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, with around 130 sports and supercars attending. We are holding it again this year on 2nd October starting from 10 AM. The EventA rather salubrious and relaxed meeting in the lovely, picturesque grounds of Sherborne Castle in north Dorset. New Admission Charge!Admission is £5 per ADULT (children under 16 free), which gives access to over 30 acres of gardens and lawns around the 50 acre lake, plus the ruined Old Castle. Entrance to the house if you wish to look around is £4.50 per adult. Sherborne is easily accessed from the M5 (30 minutes) or A303 (15 minutes). RaffleThere will be a small raffle of prizes and a low-key collection of donations for the very worthy Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. We chose this charity because, as car enthusiasts, we may need their help one day. At present there are 7 raffle prize: - Private Tour for up to 8 people of Lotus Renault GP
- Full Day Goodwood Track Day worth £320
- VMAX 200 ticket worth £200 (winner must have suitable car)
- BMW Motorsport book signed by Andy Priaulx, World Touring Car Champion
- Family Ticket to Farmer Palmer's Farm Park, near Poole
- Family Ticket to Abbotsbury Swannery, West Dorset
Airfield VisitUPDATE: Unfortunately due to it being a public airfield, and the likelihood of it being very busy on Sunday with the nice weather, we now won't be able to take cars over to the airfield. We may instead have a flypast of the helicopter. I hope to be there, but it will be a couple of weeks before I know for sure. Has anyone thought of putting a thread in the South West section? I only know because I got an email (I think from the Caring for Cars day ) EDIT: Ignore me, someone already has!

UPDATE!! - NEW DATE 2ND OCTOBER
Hi chaps - I've been extremely busy for the past month so haven't had the time or brain to put much effort into the Raleigh Rally like I normally would.
I've heard from lots of people with great cars who can't make it on Sept 4th due to holidays, other events and work, so I think pushing the date forward will make the event more successful for the Air Ambulance. It'll also give me much more time to chase up some interesting vehicles and find some raffle prizes.
Hope you understand.
To re-iterate:
NEW DATE - SUNDAY 2ND OCTOBER

UPDATE - NEW RAFFLE PRIZE The rather kind organiser of VMAX, the awesome event held at Bruntingthorpe for various exotica trying to reach their top speed, has given us a raffle prize of a VMAX ticket worth £200. The standard of cars is kept high, so the prizewinner must have a suitable car capable of 150-160mph. The ticket will be valid for an event held either later in the year or next year as future dates are TBC. Here's their website: http://www.vmax200.com/
