Great shot of my Engine there (the one directly above, that is smile )
Cheers!

As I left I had to 'give it large' through the tunnel and as I emerged the Marshals behind me were waving and gesturing wildly - so some chaps went over to ask what part of my car was falling off or about to explode. Apparantly nothing. Apparantly, my car was 'king loud. Really 'king loud.
Thanks for letting me know biggrin
That'll be because we were at Goodwood on a 'quiet' day - hence the 15mph speed limit in the tunnel.

Shame one has to spoil it for all.
That's right. I've flown to/from Goodwood a few times and it's the same for the Pilots coming in and leaving Goodwood. There's a strict path that has to be flown for noise reasons.

Mainly due to one resident fkwitt that has nothing better to do than moan constantly about noise.

So you see the threat of not being able to have another meet there due to noise complaints is unfortunately very real.

Great meet as always. Top marks to all the helpers and the organisers. Surprised how early people were leaving though.

Nice. rolleyes

The marshalls were doing that because the noise meter is permanently wired into the local authority office in Chichester. Break the noise limit, and it affects Goodwood's ability to stage events there. We weren't being difficult for the sake of it, the need to stick to the limit was really important if we're to be allowed back.

I was stood at the end of the tunnel taking pictures when you came through (I was 1 of the guys that ran over looking, expecting something to be hanging off your car) and in your defense it sounded excellent in the tunnel but the sound didn't really travel much outside of the tunnel and wasn't that loud, the Goodwood marshal that was stood next to me wasn't at all bothered, it was just the marshals in the pick up that were tail gating you through the tunnel.

See here: noise monitoring and here: noise monitoring results to understand how important this is in our ability to return to Goodwood.

In fairness, and as someone who's exhaust note is also a little on the louder side, I don't think anyone was deliberately trying to be anti social or upset the good folk of Goodwood etc etc. An awful lot of people also appreciate the combination of sweet exhaust note and tunnel. HOWEVER, had I known about Goodwood 'quiet days' I would have kept noise to a minimum, as would 99% of others, I am sure. I'm not blaming anyone for my ignorance, I was simply unaware. Maybe a small note on the bottom of the screen entrance pass would mean everyone knows in future? Anyway, apologies if I promoted any rolling eyes and hope you all have a Happy Christmas!

I agree. I too enjoyed the tunnel, even took a video. I was presented with a tunnel at a motor racing circuit in the presence of 800+ enthusiasts and I took advantage smile
However, as e21Mark said, if it had been made known a bit better that we had to be on the quiet side I would have been more careful, sorry.

Likewise, I know it mentioned "quiet day" on the news posts but I thought that referred to staffing requirements, not literal quietness!

So what does this result above mean?

But more accuratley if a particular car complies with EU law. How can a local council decide a car is "too loud"

Isn't a 458 around 130dB at it's highest?

I don't think the loudness of The car is the issue, we were asked to keep the noise down as in the email bellow..

Exit will be out of the paddock, past ‘Earls Court’ and the Flying Club. You will exit under the tunnel, but be aware that marshals will be enforcing a 15mph speed limit. If anyone hoons through there we will not be allowed back, so please do us a favour and abide by the rules.

I think the above sounds more like speeding through the tunnel, but with speed comes noise.

Next year lets have it at both ends of the Hindhead Tunnel. idea

Anyway have a happy end to the year. drunkbeervomit

Interesting post with the noise results from Goodwood, appeared that the trend for the higher noise was in the afternoon, could be this is from flights etc and not vehicles?

Anyways it was a really good SS to finish the year with, roll on much the same for 2012

I'm a bit late to the party with my photos, and in the end i could only be bothered to do anything with this one - it was my favourite car of the day.

Another good photo, thanks Stew.

I've managed to find the photo on the main site Mcandy, but it won't let me save it from the site. When you get a chance full res versions would be brilliant! Thanks
Hi Alan. Sorry for the delay...busy festive season! I tried to e-mail you through PH but it wouldn't let me. Please could you drop me an e-mail through my profile and I'll send the photos across to you.

Cheers, Andy.
