Ok, decision made, I'm off to Brooklands, may drop into the Phoenix on the way back
Oh great. Thanks. I feel so great that the most recent post is me saying I may go and the very next is someone saying "in that case I'm going to Brooklands"
Nothing personal dear boy! beer

Some of the fabulous machinery on display ... what a great variety

My personal favourite, the Pantera

Righteo. So comparing Brooklands and a stretch of public road outside a village pub works how? Credit where credit is due to the Phoenix for accommodating us all and I certainly don't want to sully the tradition of meeting there on NY day but come on now... £7.50 for a bacon roll and instant coffee whichever way you look at it is profiteering plain and simple. If I'm a tight-wad then so be it. To provide some balance, I'd happily pay entry to the PH Sunday services, free food/drink or not.

If anyone deserves credit it's all the people who brought out their wonderful machinery on a drab (and no doubt slightly hungover) January day. biggrin

Looks like my Sagaris would have been distinctly boring had I managed to make it there. smile

I did wonder if Mr Evans was going to turn up in something nice, only about a 25 minute drive from home!

Blimey! Were the rolls £7.50? I had in my mind I'd seen they were £4.50! I take back my comment about fair price then...

I think he was referring to a roll and a couple of cups of tea. Rolls were indeed £4.50 apparently, from reading the whole thread.

I was too busy wandering, looking, talking, listening, to find out how much any food cost.

I think you have to expect any place with that level of turnout to take some advantage of it.
The fact that they had enough drinks and food to continue serving until the last cars were leaving is a credit to the landlord's willingness to take some small risk in buying enough in.

At least tea/coffee and a roll/burger were optional. Entry fees rarely are biggrin
