I spoke to someone who said they did one up north aswell? is this right? as I would love to do it again!
there are similar events run by Petrolhead Nirvana - http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/and of course Sporting Bears Dream Rides are at various events around the country using public roads - http://www.sportingbears.org.uk/DreamRides/sbmc_ev...
these can lead on to the drivers being invited to closed tracks to take passengers from the charities, the children and their families on controlled laps
ETA: next Sporting Bears Dream Rides - http://www.festival-of-motoring.co.uk/news/article...

Hi Nigel, I meant to pop over and say hi during the day, but spent the morning in queues and the afternoon pretty much constant drives. I did shut my eyes for 10 minutes at lunchtime and woke up an hour and a half later, which didn't help my time management on the day either!I've missed the last few Sporting Bear events due to a lack of wheels, but finally have them sorted now, so will be doing the Car Fest in Cholmondley, NEC in November and possibly Aintree - are you at any of these?
My poor attempt at editing a few laps together of Bruntingthorpe this year is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8exQ692Wgs&fea... if you're interested.
Cheers
Andy
Hi Andy, haven't you got a high pitched scream, must have concerned the passenger to hear the driver screaming though
I know what you mean about the day I not sure I even registered that a yellow Ultima was on the track let alone that it might be yours
we're at the NEC but only for the Friday, first NEC we'll have missed since joining but we've been invited to a friend's birthday do that got changed to that Saturday and as it involves visting a few of our favourite pubs on the 1961 Bristol single decker (beer bus) (Gardner 5 cylinder diesel, top speed 40 mph) and ending at our favourite local I don't think we'll be that presentable for the Sunday

I know this made a couple of us chuckle...
Do we think a lawyer had a quick glance over it before it went to print?

I know that the VX220 guys raised £850. How did we do in comparison to them?
Any more links to event pictures?
it's not a competition Any more links to event pictures?
Steve's Gate is also a double Gate
the figure will be more than that but well down on the previous year (I've got a guess as I collected some of the last tickets with numbers on them and have a calculator that can multiply by £5)
The track was down for longer than an hour in the morning there had only been 2 laps completed by 11am and they were sighting laps by most! (I was getting very fed up trying to get in the atom and bein stood since opening! Then it got delayed again in the noon with the bloomin planes again, at this time I wasn't sure if I would get on track at all and I was so close to just jumping in my car and going, I mean why stop the laps when the vulcan went over was crazy! It wasn't even landing! The good time I had inbetween and after that farce soon made me forget about it, bit I know our gate was about 50% down mid afternoon but we made up for it slightly by the end I think though.

Any idea why? Weather? Not enough cars? Fewer punters because of the economy?
There were a lot of delays on the track with planes landing, and quite a few times I was queuing at the back of the pits for a good ten minutes before I could get to our gate to swap passengers. I also noticed that the trucks seemed to bunch up by the time they reached the exit gate for the track, so cars were held back at the start while they all went past to their pick up point. There were also buses and trikes using the same route as the trucks, so more vehicles to cross the exit gate, leading to more waiting time to get a lap done. I heard the Nissan GTR guy at the end of the day speaking to the organisers about the pit lane issues - they reckon they could have got dozens of more laps in if the pit lane was running smoothly, and I think that feeling was shared across all the gate organisers.

Would agree with this, some gates weren't quite as well organised as others, and the pit lane was just a constant traffic jam! Look forward to hearing the total amount raised though as it was a good effort by all!orangeexige said:

It's pretty essential. If one of us maims a punter, you'll be pretty pleased they've signed that when they sue you for £20M.Do we think a lawyer had a quick glance over it before it went to print?
