The policy also contains a clause indemnifying the agencies with which you are a volunteer against third party claims arising from the use of the car on such voluntary work.

They also said that as long as I'm not financially benefiting from taking part, then I am allowed to carry passengers and will be covered in case of any incident.

This all comes about reference another driver carrying a passenger in a past Dream Ride event and being stopped by the police. On producing his insurance documents, they found that he wasn't covered under the terms and conditions of his policy - we all know what the consequences are when you're not insured on a road-side stop.

As long as your insurance company can send you a letter clarifying that you are legally covered, then you just need to show this to the organisers on any Dream Ride event.

As for the track rides at Goodwood on the 4th June, the vast majority of insurance companies won't cover you for track use anyway, so you'll need the relevant cover for this.

I hope that helps anyone looking at getting clarification from your insurance company.

Well, what can I say. With less than a week to go until Planes, Games & Automobiles at Goodwood I am proud to say that with the offline fund raising and the Virgin Giving page we are now at:

£8677 raised.

Many, many thanks to everyone for your support and generosity and for those still undecided that can make it, we now have over 170 cars attending, there are track rides and Dream Rides off circuit, helicopter flights, military band and a host of other attractions for petrolheads and the whole family :-)

For those that can't make it, perhaps you can spare a few pounds to help the disabled children and the ones that have tragically lost their parents in Afghanistan that we support

EDIT: I also have asked about passenger insurance for the track, using MORIS and they will only cover a named passenger, and need all the details in advance. So again, will there be a disclaimer that the passenger will NOT be covered for personal accident insurance?

a letter or email just saying they are aware will suffice. It was brought in by the team earlier this year. I am afriad that without some form of written acknowledgement you will not be allowed to Dream Ride.

A follow up and some assistance for people doing Dream Rides and having issues with insurance:

As you know the club has said that all drivers must provide written evidence from their insurance broker or company that they are covered for Dream Rides. A number of drivers have come back saying that although they have verbal confirmation the broker has said they will not provide written confirmation. Under these circumstances the Club will also accept evidence that the Driver has written back to the insurance broker/company confirming the conversation eg

"To xyz company

Re Dream Rides Insurance Cover - [insert car details]
Motor Policy Number - [insert policy details]
This is to confirm my conversation with [name of person] at [insert time] on [insert date] where it was confirmed that the above insurance policy would provide cover for me to take part in Dream Rides events as organised by the Sporting Bears Motor Club.

If you are not in agreement with this please reply within 48 hours"

Hi all,

Not long back in the house! First massive thanks to Pistonheads for letting us cross post on as many threads as we could thanks to all on here that came and supported our first event, big thanks to Benn and the Rally 4 Heroes guys who helped us clear a backlog of pax rides.

There were a few Goodwoodisms on the day, but we will know better next time.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, a learning curve in a few places but I have had nothing but excellent feedback. I think about the 13:30 mark, I looked around as one of the organisers, the pit lane was buzzing, cars blasting down the pit straight, the Motion Simulator was blaring out the sounds of someone driving the virtual Goodwood track, the band were in full swing, helicopters buzzing in the sky doing pleasure flights and a LOT of adults, mums, dads and children smiling and having a good day.

A very proud moment for me.

I am really looking forward to updating you all on the total that we raised and as a teaser we had managed to raise £10541 by midnight the day BEFORE the event!!

Cant wait to start planning next years bigger, better and smoother day, especially as it will be a 105dB day!

I had 5 pro photographers on track and on site and they have roughly 3200 photos between them to sort through! I have asked them to produce full size, high res images that we are hopefully looking to sell for a donation to the charity. Cant wait to share them with you all.

One final thing for myself and Simon, please, please can you take some time to email us, (I am happy to be the point of contact) we have had a lot of accolades but I really NEED to hear what DIDN'T work well or can be improved.

I have big shoulders so please be as honest as possible, with your help and feedback I am aiming to fine tune next years event to make it even better for you.

With such a success on our inaugural event (neither of us have ever done anything like this) we have hopefully caught the eye of Paul and the PH team for some banners etc next year

4) Better position and sign posting for the frankly awesome sporting bears rides, I found them too late
5) More control of children, I saw many a sprog clambering over cars when the owners were not about, a friend was deeply unimpressed with a small child hanging off the wing mirror of his Exige ¡V possibly some signs?

Generally it was a good day out and one I will be supporting next time round, I WILL have a car ready to go on the track next time too! Well done to all involved, a cracking effort and great to see a decent sum raised for charity.

I did the trackday in the morning, and echo some of the comments made earlier. I was actually pretty surprised that it seemed to be the Goodwood staff who had no idea what was happening. It was a physical impossibility for me to get from the drivers briefing, into my car, get it noise tested and into the pit lane in the 30 seconds I had to make my slot as a beginner. I ended up on the track with people far handier than myself, which I'm not sure was the best plan. There seemed to be no way of telling which group was out when and where I should be at what time for the next session, all ended up with me being a little frustrated. Once out on track though, it was ace, and I saw none of the agressiveness mentioned earlier, I was pretty slow if I'm honest, but was pleased that many guys waved to say thanks as I let them through.

As for the Sporting Bears, I had a great time with them in the afternoon, I agree it should be better signposted next year, but I was pleased to get my first ride, and the young lady I took out came back suitably excited by the experience! I'm looking forward to doing some more at the Supercar Event in a couple of weeks.

Finally once again, my sincere thanks to those guys who've stuck their heads above the parapet and organised this, yup it needs a few tweaks, but what matters is that you could be bothered to do this with such enthusiasm and commitment in the first place. Cheers to you all

Thanks for you honest feedback mate, in fact thanks to everyone that has helped us pinpoint the omissions and failings, we know why they happened and thats the most important thing, identify them and address them.

It was reading very high indeed, a few chaps had theirs MSA tested at 96 the day before and the Goodwood one had them at 101dB WTF!
