Hi all, many thanks to Paul for offering Piston Heads help with regards to helping promote this event for a very good cause. In my capacity as the Sporting Bears South West Rep it gives me great pleasure to let you all know about a fantastic day out that the team I am working with have organised.

TITLE

Planes, Games & Automobiles at Goodwood June 4th 0900-1700

WHY

The event is in aid of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Childrens Fund RNRM Childrens Fund with all proceeds going directly to the charity. Formed in 1902 it is one the oldest childrens charity in the UK. They support children with mental and physical disabilities, however due to operations in Afghanistan the support to families due to bereavement has risen sharply over the last few years.

As we can all see from the news, the fatalities have been heavy and the charity is committed to looking after the bereaved children and supports them up to the age of 21. Over the course of 2010/11 we assisted 1600 children at an average cost of 798 per child. Of these:

49% were suffering from a disability or mental or physical illness.
40% were due to the consequence of parental illness or death.
11% due to the impact of parental relationship problems (these are increasingly due to the parents post traumatic stress)

THE EVENT

This event will have three main elements focusing on providing a great day out for families and petrol heads alike. Hi Bob,
Thanks for a very generous offer and boy-oh-boy would I love to see and hear you on track but I'm sorry to sat that the 98dB applies to all aspects of the track day. DO NOT be disheartened as we are looking for car clubs to display as a club in the Dynamic Driving area and we still have plenty of space in Paddock 2 for static displays for individuals. smile
If you would like any further info please PM or phone me.

Thanks

Simon

Great addition Bob, as you know that track element may well be off due to the noise level of the Typhon but I know for a fact your car will be very welcome for the Dream Rides part of the event :-)

I hope I did this bit right. Not all confirmed yet, but I hope to be able to offer the rides on track, by adding some silencer stuffing and putting (the ugliest you've ever seen) exhaust extension on. If not, it'll be road rides for me.

Andy

Hi Tony,
Entrance is free albeit that there is a minimal £1 charge for public parking. Car Clubs are most welcome with a pitch for circa 20 cars on the hardstanding (usually used for parking on Breakfast Sundays) to the right as you enter Goodwood circuit. This is our first year so we are not charging fees but would look for a donation from the club of some description, circa £5 per car would be appreciated as it is all for a good cause and track costs are high. There is also the option to buy one or two tickets for the track for your club which as a trial for this year we would be happy to allow all of your participating club members to use the ticket throughout the day. e.g. buy one track ticket £300 for the whole day - no donation required by car club - all who intend to drive the track must attend the drivers AM or PM brief. Please bear in mind the timings though as there is one 15 minute slot per hour with 6 sessions for the day, so feasibly 12 drivers in all for two tickets £600.

Contact either Baz or myself. PM me if you would prefer.

Hope this answers yours and others who have yet to ask questions. smile

Hi Nick,

That's excellent! Baz did mention it during the week, thanks very much. The more the merrier as they say and our event does appear to be growing by the day which is great news.

Also thanks to Andrew. ('soon to be strong' or 'speed with force' or similar?)
(Or none of the above!!)smile

Andy - part of me is hoping you are above 98db so you are with the Sporting Bears Dream Rides.....the other part is hoping the stuffing works as your experience on track and giving Rides with the Sporting Bears will be appreciated, but look after the car for Cholmondeley mate!
