I can assure you that Cannonball Run Europe doesn't have a huge entry fee when you consider that we ONLY use 5 star hotels, amazing dinner and party venues (breakfast and dinner is included EVERY day!) We also hire EXCLUSIVELY a current formula 1 circuit for the day (open pit lane). The price doesn't reflect what you get for your money infact we often are asked how come the entry fee is so small! When you consider the the Gumball is around £25,000 and they dont hire an F1 track you get a real bargain on The Cannonball Run Europe! smile

Was looking at this. The itineraries look good for summer 2014 but am a bit worried that a group of 20 fast cars might attract a bit too much attention from the gendarmes and Swiss police... No?

Just not clear how you can really press on a good B roads with 20 cars to deal with. But again I never had any experience on a tour like this... Always organised my own euro tours. Maybe a bit of company could be good.

How were the numbers for last year? I was looking at the website, didn't seem like their were as many as maybe 6/7years ago?

Gumball wasn't it 40k last year!! And that's before you get involved in logistics of having to get cars shipped around

there are lots of road trip rallys about.

I've done the much more affordable Rally for Heroes, in 2012 & 2014, as well as great road trip, provides the opportunity to do your bit for charity as well.

Much as I would have liked to join a tour to enjoy it with the company of others. In the past, I have chosen to do it on my own where I can choose my itineraries and hotels and most importantly of all, keep costs down to less than half those of an organised tour.

In April, I plan to do a tour with a group where we can do our own bookings for the hotels and cross channel if we want. The projected cost for this including all hotels, private parking, Eurotunnel and entrance into a prestige car show in Monte Carlo is £650. That’s a 2 day longer trip for about £1200 less than Rico’s June trip.

I understand these tour operators are in it for the money but nearly £2000 plus food, fuel & miscellaneous expenses is quite a lot to pay for the organised camaraderie of strangers.

Having said all that, I think Rico is probably one of the cheaper tours that you can find.

Having done it last year and signed up again this year. I have to admit that we (my father and I) really enjoyed it. The Rico rally folks have it really nailed. Hotels were great, routes were fantastic and the people were brill. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Ping me direct if you have any questions

Five nights for just £40 short of £2k for 2 isn't cheap, then add in your food in 5+ hotel, petrol, booze = pretty expensive.

I've just worked out our not for profit run to Monte Carlo 9 day tour including entry into the Top Marques show, food, fuel, hotels, Eurotunnel, the lot at just short of £1800.

I meant to add on the 20 car bit, we didnt stay with the pack all the time, we went and did our own thing a couple of times. Even when we were driving in a pack the pace was never the problem. If you do go and they provide radios make sure you get one the banter is hysterical!

As for the comment of "its not cheap, and I did it for less", completely agree you probably can, well done on doing it on a budget. I admire your tenacity and organisational skills.

To be honest I couldnt be bothered with organizing etc and wanted someone else to make those decisions (such as finding and booking decent hotels that have secure parking, working out the routes etc etc).

One last comment I have is the number of people I met last year who appear to be going this year again. If it was crap I'm pretty sure they wouldnt have repeat bookings and they would loose their clientele very quickly.

At the end of the day you pays yer money and yer takes your choice.
