CPoP - wow what a great event this is every year, on the Friday a practise lap ended a Lola car with dramatic style, the ONE - 77 must have been under strict orders after that!!! A great weekend of motorsport and to everyone thinking they were having a tough time parking their car, here is a picture of one of the Sporting Bears cars, who spent Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday taking people out for charity, even after this happened Saturday Night.

I know events are never perfect when the weather hits and unless you are holding them on Asda Carpark, fields and water do tend to make a great cocktail - want drama? "Just add water!" but through all this the Sporting Bears brought some serious cars along and raised just under £5,000 from the generous donations of the people attending for their Dream Ride, so thank you all.

Some shots of our cars on the days here, with more dity Lambos!!!

Thank you to all our drivers and helpers who volunteer their cars, time & petrol so EVERY PENNY DONATED GOES TO CHARITY, you can also see our FB page as Sporting Bears Northwest.

Just like 2nd Max's comments.
Thanks to all that came along and helped or went out with Sporting Bears Dream Rides raising money.
And a big thumbup to Jonathan for cultivating the ground in his Countach proving Lamborghini’s still make quality farming equipment.

For all the problems various people had with getting in on the weekend, this picture sums it up. This area in the last 3 years is where we'd normally be parking cars. This shows how bad the rain had been as the Countach was the 1st car to enter the area, be it inadvertently
Thursday night turned our area from a dry solid one to a water logged mud bath.
It’s easy to blame the organisers for shutting gates and not anticipating the weather, I can’t comment either way for them on their actions, but I'd say we'd had extreme rain fall and sometimes there's nothing you can do but prioritise. We did like the other person on here did, set up Thursday night and came earlier on Friday anticipating problems due to the weather, Cholmondeley is after all a working farm.

Thought the CPOP event was excellent. Congratulations to the BAC car for winning, having spoken to the BAC guy's on Saturday night, they seemed a great group so well done.
The paddock had some amazing cars in there, all being driven to the extreme. My daughters favourite was the Mini Cooper’s.
The racing was excellent and you could tell they were trying, so many not making it beyond practise frown. Luckily the XJ220 had an escape route when they broke too late at lodge

Thought the air displays were excellent, didn't get a chance to see much else being at lodge corner for most of the event with the Sporting Bears.

A fantastic weekend as always.

Club secretaries have had (or are about to receive) an email from the organisers. They felt our pain and are suggesting something to make up for it. Since it's all a bit up in the air at the moment, I'd rather not say any more about it yet.

Glad you liked my noble! It was a bit of a struggle to get it onto the stand. We got off without much of an issue early on Sunday morning before the gates opened. We had a great time despite the weather but its a shame more club cars couldn't get through. The location of the event is great and the mix of things running on the track was superb.
Hope this works, new to the whole pic tags on here:

Great weekend, though the organisation went to pot after cars started getting stuck.

I moved the R32 round to the stand @5am on the friday, and 10mins later myself and my OH were pushing a LWB tranist out of the mud, went back to the campsite to have breakfast, and had to push one of the lads with an MG, then back to the stand, to push more cars (mainly because our stand was next to the Gate 3 cabin).

Around 7.15 they shut Gate 3 on the saturday, so one of our lads who had got in early managed to get his R33 on the stand, but everyone else ended up getting sent to the other car park, and one the 35s ended up stuck in traffic for a couple of hours after it was being sent from gate to gate.
Sunday was a joke they were telling club cars that Gate 3 was shut, which it wasnt as we had one of the lads come through there without a problem.

It was a shame having all the car clubs scattered to the 4 winds, but we made the most of it, and i hope anyone that came over to our stand fell welcome.

Camel drive was fine, i was standing right at the Chican when he came to an abrubt stop ifront of me, unlike last year where i managed to snap the Porsche through the haybales

this year i only managed to caputre the aftermath since i was messing about with the settings at the time.

That's pretty good of them to organise something. For me half the trip down is to see the other car clubs, and the cars that get brought down.

It's another trip down from Scotland, but i guess we bought a new tent on the way back up, so might as well get a chance to use it.

We drove down from Scotland too, whole event was a bit of a disapointment if I'm honest. Not sure if thats justified or if my expectations were just a bit too high after visiting Goodwood fos and a number of other high quality events.

Just a few comments from a driver's and clubby's perspective here.
As far as I'm aware the ground staff worked late into the evening to try and sort the access to the club field without success. The weather I have to say was (and still is!!) unprecedented for this time of year and when fields/access routes become waterlogged there's little that can be done about it. You have to feel for the 'Chumly' team as they've been dealt yet another very poor hand and tried to do their best to cope.
As for drivers and hospitality. I did read a comment about how expensive it could be to participate, hotel bills etc. Well I can honestly say that from arriving on the Friday to leaving on Sunday night I barely put my hand in my pocket as we camped right next to the paddock (camper van)(plenty were in tents though)and we were all well fed and watered three times a day plus a champagne slap up on Saturday with concert/fireworks. An average speed weekend somewhere like Prescott or Harewood would have cost me a whole lot more without any of the trimmings and a whole extravaganza to enjoy between runs on the track plus we wouldn't have been inundated with such enthusiastic attention from the public. It was a very cheap weekend in that respect !!
I think we're so lucky to have anything remotely this good so far north and comparisons with Goodwood are unfair as the FOS is a corporate circus in comparison with little or NO involvement at all from us mere mortals.
Brilliant event, can't wait for next year !!

Fair point, not been to goodwood for about 5 years so apreciate its now a more corporate event. Just would of been good not to have spent an hour looking around for somewhere to sit and have our picnic on the friday after driving down, eventually asked Chumly cafe owner if we could sit at her tables if we bought a cuppa. For something that sells itself as a family event thought that was poor. Not even a picnic bench.
I'd say its already trying to go down the Goodwood route ie. your either standing in mud eating a burger or your one of 'those' in a Breitling corporate lounge.

I'm unaware of any venue that supplies tables and chairs for our use scratchchin. I tend to take my own fold up chair.

...and I'd even go as far to say that if CPOP had been on this weekend and not last it may well have been cancelled altogether !

Agree - the weather would have completely obliterated many a similar event where the majority of it was on grass..... people were still allowed to walk over the cricket pitch all weekend. There wasn't really anything called off just access problems. We were lucky as we got set up on the Friday so apart from having to get the tractor to tow a van, trailer and car to the top of the field where we were based we did really well with only one casualty of the car club access problems on the Saturday. As the organiser say when plan A went wrong they were in business continuity mode and from my perspective coped well.
