Would you like to raise money for charity by riding shotgun in a supercar around Snetterton? Of course you would, so here are the details.
The Charity Race Experience Day will take place on November 18th, at Snetterton. Last year the day made £20,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which provide free accommodation for families of seriously ill children near hospices and hospitals. This year it intends to raise £50,000.
Expect some tasty classics tooAfter an admission price of £5, passenger laps can be purchased by anyone over 12, with all proceeds going to the charity. Not only is there a mouth-watering selection of cars on offer (including a Ferrari F430, Aston V12 Vantage, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and an MG SV), the driver line-up is also pretty special. BTCC racers Shawn Hollamby and Tony Gilham will be doing the driving, along with Ginetta GT driver Carl Breeze.
Martin Donnelly, former Camel Lotus F1 driver, will be there both as a driver and a strong advocate of RMHC. After his crash at the Spanish Grand Prix in 1990 which broke both his legs and ended his F1 career, Donnelly spent six weeks in an East London hospital. The huge costs incurred by his family visiting from Belfast would be typical of the type of situation in which RMHC could now help.
As well as the supercar passenger rides, Snetterton will play host to other Charity Race Experience Day attractions. The Wildcat Aerobatic formation display team will headline a lunchtime air display involving a number of acts. Moreover, three dealers (Bussey's Ford, Duff Morgan Citroen and Cooper's BMW) will be offering 'ride and drives' on the Snetterton 100 circuit. And if all that is rather exhausting, Monster will be sending its Monster Truck (see what they did there) full of energy drinks to perk you up.

It costs from £10 for 3 laps.
The price increases depending on which car you choose - last year, cars were put into groups depending on car type.
Last year classic cars were a flat rate of £10, but I have no idea if that will change.
Entry to the site is £5 per car.

Seems reasonable. I paid 20 Euros for 3 passenger laps in a Ferrari 458 at the Val du Vienne circuit in JuneThe price increases depending on which car you choose - last year, cars were put into groups depending on car type.

I am driving my 600bhp Nissan GTR - you get 3 laps of the 200 circuit but this includes the out and in lap.
I tend to show the circuit to passengers at a reasonable pace on the outlap then do a flying lap followed by half at full pace and the last bit at a cool down pace.
Some of the more exotica is £25 so bring a large wad!!

Unfortunately you won't be able to get 3 laps in a 458 for £10. Prices for the classics start at £10 and rise dependant on type and rarity.
Prices for the race and supercars will start at £25 again dependant on the type of car.
Last year we had the Aston Martin Vantage GT cars going for £60-90 dependant on the driver.
This year we have a lot of different cars with a great range of drivers too. So definately something for everyone.

I drove at the event last year.
My main observation was that there was alot of people watching but not enough paying for the rides to keep the cars busy - there were quite a few with down time.Bearing in mind the financial position of many households is worse than last year, I was wondering whether you were pricing yourself out of raising the maximum amount.
I know the ASDA event at Brunters is cheap @ £5 for a 1.6 mile lap, but the 3 laps is really only 2 fast laps when you account for warming-up and cooling down.
Perhaps there should be premium pricing for the really special cars but some reduction for the remainder?
You also could offer a reduced price for a 2 lap ride, albeit that there probably wouldn't be a whole flying lap but I doubt most punters would worry as they are ecstatic just getting a ride in a car of their dreams.
I am sure that avoiding down time will maximise revenue on the day.

Yep totally agree and I was trying to upsell a fair bit on the day. Issues we had last year, was a lot of very similar race/track cars so once someone had been in one, then they didnt want to do it again. Also, a fair amount of people had come with the racers so wanted to only go out with them.
With the day changed to a Sunday and media partnered with a large newspaper group, advertising is much larger locally than last year so I am quietly confident that numbers will be increased from 2011, which to be fair, was our first time at doing this.
This year we have taken on these learns and will be running the pits differently too.
Unless we have a 'named' driver in a car then the prices will be at the lower end of the scale to be fair.
With regard the punters being ecstatic just being in a car, LOL... we had people complain that the McLaren MP4 that was there was not being caned....even though they were seeing 160 down the straight...
We will not out price the cars and have a very decent spectrum of cars attending now too.
Very concerned with the current economic state so pricing will not be 100% decided until nearer the time but will take into account the above.

Classics will be £10, Group A classed cars £20, Group B £40 and Group C £60....We have already had people offering higher prices to have specific drivers /cars but this year, you will be able to select the exact car you wish to go in.
