Anyone going this year?

I'm often skiing when it's on, but I'm not this year, so I've just booked return flights LHR-GVA for one of the days (Tuesday I think, without double checking) and am planning on going.

Any more tips on things to do/avoid/know?

Planning to buy a ticket online (I think it says it's a download and print job?) and buy myself some food and drink in Boots at LHR before I go to avoid depending on expensive, poor food in the venue and Geneva airport.

It's a very short work from the airport.
I was in Geneva last year on business while the show was on.
Had a couple of hours to spare before the flight back so popped in.
I think it cost me 8 Euro late in the afternoon, I was pleasantly suprised how cheap it was.
16CHF full price (about a tenner) and half price after 4PM, I believe (I've booked a morning flight and evening return, so should have plenty of time).

I presume you just bought your ticket on the door?

Has anybody driven to the show before and made it into a road trip?

Are there any roads/routes that make it a worthwhile excursion for a couple of days?

I would be very grateful to know if someone has done it before and could recommend anything.

Many thanks.

Did you end up doing this? Am interested in doing it myself this year and tagging it on to a work trip to Frankfurt the week after. Be about a 2k round trip with Spa Francorchamps and the Nordschleife both being directly en route between Calais, Frankfurt and Geneva respectively. Could even tag on a couple days skiing for no extra miles!

Off to Geneva for our second time on Monday 12th. This time we've got time to head into Geneva for some grub too.

Has anybody got any recomedations on where's good to eat? Unfortuantly we will have one fussy eater with us, so burgers must be on the menu.

If burgers are your thing then I'd recommend "Holy Cow" who have 2 locations in the city centre (https://www.holycow.ch/holy-cow-geneva/). It's not fancy but pretty straightforward food, decent quality from what I remember. More of a burger joint than a dining out location.

Alternatively there's Restaurant de l'Aviation (http://www.laviation.ch/site/fr/) bit more upmarket and they do a decent burger amongst other dishes. They are very close to the airport (hence the name and the good views) and, therefore, also close to the exhibition centre.

In general I'd avoid places with views of Lake Geneva. The views are good but the food is often over-priced.

I'll be there on the 9th for the motor show, not sure if I'll have time to get into the city proper for a meal or I'll just be existing on airport food.
