Rallye des Jonquilles 2014
Discussion
If you read the posts above you'll see what happened.
Yes, other years have been open to a lot of modern stuff, now the organisers seem to be steering it back towards its roots - a classic rally.
Anyway, I'm just the messsenger. If this starts causing me grief I'll quite happily fk off the organising a PH wide entry and just do it with my friends and Mission Motorsport.
Rant ends.
From here on in anyone in a modern (read post '80) car can contact me and I'll pass on the organiser's email so you can discuss it with them directly.

Oh I know, I'm not getting fruity with anyone.
The thing to remember, and perhaps this wasn't made clear enough in previous posts, is that this is a classic rally. If this was in the UK it would just be a polite but swift 'fk off' from the MSA unless you bring a V5 showing a build date of up to and including Dec 31st 1981.
(this next bit is just my thoughts, maybe not entirely accurate)
I think that this rally was planned originally to cater for solely classics and during its infancy failed to meet a complete subscription. Thus they allowed newer cars to compete to make up the numbers.
When I last did it in 2012 there were 135 cars of which about 15 were newer than the nominal cut-off.
However, I think it has done just what they hoped and gained some serious interest both in mainland Europe and here in the UK. Thus this year they're having to limit the event (to I think 150 cars) and can afford to be a bit more picky.
However, Bruno and the organising team really do love that the UK crews make such an effort to come and compete - thus he's a little more laissez faire with pinpoint dates. This prompted my comments all through this thread and resulted in me emailing him last month saying, "I want to bring a team of around 10 cars but a couple will be newer models". The reply was more or less "sure, great, but please focus more on classics than moderns - end of"
Hope that makes everything quite clear.

Hi Bruno,
Just sent you my details. If you need anything else please let me know.
For anyone that fancies a days driving and sightseeing the day before we are booked onto the 10:06 eurotunnel and plan to take a scenic route down to Arras. Based loosely on the route in this blog.
We also plan to stop somewhere for lunch and to visit a couple of WW2 sites along the way such as la coupole and le blockhaus.
We have booked rooms at the Ibis hotel in Arras for saturday night so hopefully we can arrange a few beers the night before in one of the squares.

I've got a lot on my plate now getting ready for LeJog next week - when back I'll stick up an email suggesting a few crossings and times etc. One option will be for the group to meet up for a ferry/chunnel, the other a meet time on the Saturday afternoon before, as you say, a fking massive lash up in Arras on the Saturday night!
Will update with more details then. I've confirmed my place with Bruno along with Johnfm in the '67 Elan and Mission Motorsport in the ducktail Pork.
