Rviant,

Any chance of putting the 575 above the Murci? on an alphabetical basis of course!

edited to say: my Mate Slinky's sorted it.

Glad it wasnt wet for us on Sunday.

Not too disappointed with 160. It was still pulling hard when I had to start braking.

Any chance we could relocate it to Nardo next year?

The timing gear seemed to be further from the end of the runway than at previous VMax's: this could explain the slightly lower speeds.

Oh, and my Martini was gently stirred at 163mph with another gear to go.

Not wanting to spilt hairs, but saw 174 on the run when me and Rods were going for it.

The Mount Etna effect brake pads on returning to paddock should have proved it!

Prize for smoking brakes should go to Guy R I think.

Edited to say that Rods got 3 or so mph more than me on than run so he may be at 177 or so at least?

Equally, not wanting to split hairs, but on my best run the panel flashed up 171 mph. However, with due respect to the timekeepers doing a difficult task, the morning timesheet only had one result for me despite me having done 4 runs before lunch. Maybe dark blue is just a bit too anonymous (eh Martyn?)!

Out of interest the day before we were there a new Mercedes McLaren SLR did a maximum run of 205 in the wet. This was however, on his speedo, I'm guessing about 195mph real speed, so some of the vmaxxers werent far off it !!

I saw 195 mph on my speedo down the straight after the timing gear had been removed. This is that I kept my foot in much longer and used the escape route in the parked cars at the end of the runway instead of taking the right hander... This is probably what the SLR had done.

As others have stated, I think the timing beacons were further forward this time, making the speeds a little lower than previous Vmax's..

Interestingly the speedo in the SL65 is dead on accurate at 187mph...Elsewhere that day I saw 205....and the fecker was still pulling.

it was funny on the day, the timekeepers "invited" me down to watch a few runs to see how tricky it was, phatgixxer passed me at 185 and I reckon he was within about 6 feet of me, I'd have struggled to have identified the brand of the car if I hadnt known he was coming!

Royalties and donations to "Petrol for a fat bloke". These displays are expensive you know, and you should pay extra for a private dance sir!

Blimey - I'm not too unimpressed with my 142 after all, given that the Boxters were only slightly ahead at 144 and 146.

Time for that supercharger then. Anyone got three grand they could lend me?

Cheers,

--Chris (still mentally grinning from hoofing the back end out a few times)

Mere seconds later, your steed was lagging when I shot past you round the bottom corner

That excellent lap was captured on film I believe.....best leave the decision to the video referee?

Your car is soooo loud now Rob, I had my window fully up from the start and the noise was shocking in the cab from your zorst.

Very nice to meet you Nel, your car is lovely. Hope the trip back was ok.

When I was leaving I lined up against Emma, and after I gave her a passenger ride earlier I could see her mouthing Oh god, not you!

Happily the P1 munched the Boxster around the lap, but I suspect the housebrick punched-in-the-face aerodynamics of the rice rocket didn't do it any favours through the time traps.
