RAFFLE PRIZE - ARIEL MOTORS FACTORY VISIT AND ATOM RIDE

Tom Siebert, the owner of Ariel Motors, has been in touch to offer an exceptional prize - do you and a friend fancy popping down to the factory in Somerset to see where all the Ariel Atoms are built? Would you then like to be taken out by Tom in an Atom on the local roads?

Cha-chinggggg.

Warning: this prize could damage your wallet when you beg Tom to sell you a car!

Note: while the tour is for 2 people, the ride is only for the winner.

All the information about Ariel and their hoon machines can be found at:

www.arielmotor.co.uk/.

RAFFLE PRIZE - SEVERN VALLEY CESSNA FLIGHT, EXECUTIVE AVIATION SERVICE LTD

The fantastic PHer Highflier, professional pilot with Executive Aviation Services and top bloke, has once again come up trumps with a raffle prize that perhaps money can't buy. Certainly, with any other company you would be taking the chance that the pilot might not be a petrolhead which would make for an awkward silence throughout the flight.

Happily, James knows his planes and his cars, so you're in good hands if you win this prize.

You'll leave Gloucester Airport for a flight down the Severn Valley to the Severn bridges and back over the Malverns. There's some stunning scenery along the way.

If you are a business or individual who requires a highly professional private flight service, EXAS are extremely well-regarded and fly all over Europe.

SPECIAL RAFFLE PRIZE - SIT IN FREDDY'S REVENGE FOR A START-UP!!

The team have decided to give one lucky person the chance to sit in their Fuel Altered (and very loud) drag car while they start it up at CWC this year. Don't worry, the half shafts aren't fitted so you won't be firing yourself at the horizon.

Buy your tickets for this raffle prize from the team. We'll announce the winner at 2.30 during the raffle draw, and then the car will be started at 3pm.

Ticket price TBA.

Please Note: the winning participant MUST sign a liability waiver.

will the red arrows being making a fly past .as ive just heard they are going to weston over the weekend to do a small display so has anybody managed to sort this
Nope. They normally don't fly til late May (i.e. last week of May) and I wasn't aware of any shows in the south west that they might be displaying at.

We do have two hot air balloons though, weather permitting.

Just realised this...

We're not far shy of 600 vehicles now.

If every one actually turns up and donates £20, we'd raise £12,000 for the Children's Hospice. That would be superb, and a great example of the power of PHers banding together to do some good.

The hospice desperately needs funds to do the amazing work they do.

Hope everyone enjoyed the sun today. We have sweated and sworn for most of the day setting stuff up at the school, and a little bit burnt.

LIST CUT-OFF

Because I'm not staying up all night, we are now not adding anyone else to our printed list for the gate marshal.

If you turn up, you'll run the risk of not getting in.

Please remember your PH name to quote at the gate, NOT your number because as people remove themselves higher up the list, everyone changes number below.

DON'T TURN UP BEFORE 10 AM

If you're not in the showcase area, PLEASE don't turn up before 10. You'll only queue and we need the private road fairly clear for any late showcase people, and in case an ambulance needs to visit the hospice.

NO DOGS

No dogs are allowed in the school grounds, sorry.

See you all tomorrow. biggrin

MONEY RAISED

We've counted and re-counted the donations and are a little surprised that we've raised less than in 2012 at this stage, but we must wait until we can get the gift aid envelopes to the hospice to be opened and counted and find out how much the canteen raised before we give a grand total for the event.

In 2012 we had nearly £1500 donated online, and we're far behind on that.

If you didn't manage to get to the event, or feel guilty for sneaking out without emptying your pockets, please consider donating to this amazing charity that sits just a field away from Caring with Cars - and don't forget to encourage your friends, co-workers or just shout at people on the street to get themselves to the following address:

www.justgiving.com/cwc2014

We hope to be able to present a Grand Total early next week with a break-down of the donations where possible. I can even tell everyone how many 1p coins there were.

Many thanks,

Graham and the CWC organisers

I was told by the woman selling the tickets that you needed to be there for the raffle otherwise you wouldn't get the prize, so didn't buy any as I had to leave early. IMO 2:30 was a bit late in the day for the raffle to take place.
Hi Matt,

It's something we've struggled with for years: too late and people don't buy tickets because they're leaving, too early and people haven't even got to the lawn to buy tickets.

The raffle tends to be the point after which people start buggering off, so you can imagine that we don't want to hasten that. If we run CWC next year, we have a plan to improve matters and hopefully that will include tickets bought prior to the event that don't require attendance.

We also hope to hold an auction of some of the prizes.

Graham, I hope you got my email. I have managed to get a corporate donation which will help raise the total a bit.
I am happy to help with any thinking you may wish to do around how to raise more money next time without extending the entry queue.
Hi chap - yes I just got your email. I'll reply in a mo - many thanks for thinking outside the box, and thanks to your company!

If they donate directly with Louise at the hospice referring to Caring with Cars, that would be great!

We're just your average PHers, and we created CWC to cater for our kind of enthusiasts who want to see a tractor next to a Lamborghini and the owners having a chat.

That is PH.

We welcome all ideas about how to improve the event, without affecting its core values. It's first and foremost a big meet for PHers and others that we invite to provide extra interest, which also raises some money for the hospice. I like the relaxed, private niche we have and lots of people say we're one of the best events they have been to. I am very critical of myself and the event, but at the end of the day lots of people had a good time and we all got to hear and see some great machines. I want to improve how we do things, but I don't see it ever being a public event or held solely to raise money.

If anyone has any criticism, polite or violently abusive, email me through my profile. And also if anyone was pleased with something, let us know so we don't arse it up.

As it has been half term, it's taken a while to get the information from the school about the canteen takings.

At present the total of the JustGiving donations, the money raised on the day and the school canteen is:

£6864.09

We are still to hear what has been raised in the Gift Aid envelopes given to the hospice last Thursday, so hopefully this will bump the total up over £7500.

As you can see, this year seems to have raised less with more vehicles than in 2012.
