We had some good times, I remember doing DV8s stickers more than a few times (I do remember something about you!)
You told me they were easy to do 'cos it was only three letters as opposed to 'Team Piston Broke' or 'Alfa Beater Blockers'! Hmmph! tongue out

We did 3 Street Safari events Home2Rome 05 and 06 and CzechWrecks 07 in these beauties!

Home2Rome 05

Home2Rome 06

CzechWrecks 07

we had a amazing time on all 3 "holidays", but I think the moment has passed for this sort of event and I wouldn't do another. The costs were getting more and more each year and the number of events from going on took away a bit of the pioneering adventure aspect of the whole thing. we always made sure our cars were properly in the sprit of the Banger ethos and scrapped them all at the finish destination (other than the escort which we drove from Prague to Munich to scrap!).... was fun whilst it lasted tho'

It was a moment in time. Thank you for choosing StreetSafari.

I think it was at the end of CzechWrecks 2007 where I noticed a Carlton with a 2" strip missing down the entire side of the car. Perfectly cut out the entire length. Apparently the team had 'lent' the car against a crash barrier on the Czech motoray at 80mph, and discovered that every half mile or so were a couple of hooks about 2" apart (height). The two hooks literally ripped a perfect strip from the side of the car. For some reason I want to think it was a veteran car as well.

I remember that! It was the Batmobile Omega, found a pic of it. Is it the same Omega as on page one of this thread?

There you go! Memory plays strange tricks as I thought it was all the way down the car! lol. Even still, it was a neat bit missing in the door.

Yeah, I think that was BigRods car.

Yup! The '06 DV8 BatmOmegaBile!

The guys I gave the car to did have some loose screws. Nice guys mind, and I kept in touch with them for a while after. In fact I actually gave them another car that I'd intended to restore but was far too rusty after al was said and done. They had the tartan Sierra on '06. (there's a bit of footage of them in the video I posted when we were in Sarnen.)

They abused the car for a year, (amazed the 'liquid metal' repairs I did on the engine block held out as far as Pinatemare never mind the rest of it!!), and hammered it round Knockhill a few times, (once with me in it!), and ultimately left it with a very bewildered man in Prague.

They actually fitted scaffolding poles behind the bumpers so they could play dodgems with a couple of other teams on the way to the Czech republic.

I've done the Ramshackle Rally four times (to different destinations, always driven home too), epic fun! Here are the cars...

First effort (bit weak on the decor side)

Upped our game somewhat the next year (in the rustiest, cat C write off Mondeo ever!)

Won best car in year three

then same car in year four with some revisions...

I have recently booked to do the Crumball Rally Thundercrawl this year. Reims to Venice over 3 days at end of July.

This will be my first banger rally and can't wait. Three teams from my local pub also booked on it.

I can already see that costs will mount up. I have only paid entry and accommodation so far, but fuel and tolls definitely need to be taken into account. As well as lots of beer money obviously !!!

Me and my mates do exactly this every year. Its called the trans European banger oddessey and is not a paid or organised official trip and is all the more fun for it. No organised rip off bar prices just a blast across Europe doing everything and anything in between the final destination.

We have been all around Europe and fancy dress and a theme is mandatory. Failure to put in enough effort is generally punished by spray paint and ridicule by the other teams.

The bad news is it was last week! All welcome next year though!
