Later in the summer i'm driving down to the South of France and meeting my Mrs off the plane I'm leaving the day before and then have a couple of days to myself on the way back and plan to go via some great roads in the Alps etc.

I always like to know were I've been. As daft as it sounds, whilst i'm navigating its hard to get a concept of where little towns and villages are on the map once you are back. What trackers would people recommend that would show me where I've been when i get back to the UK? I assume i can down load the route to Google map etc and get all the stats ie distance, top speed, altitude etc?

I've looked online but there seems to be loads, some also require subscriptions which i want to avoid.
thanks

If you've got a smart phone get 'map my ride' app. that will do all you want it too

I've got one of those but it would cost a fortune in roaming charges on a 24 hour road trip in Europe!

Do they need a data connection to log GPS coordinates?

Bought a MiVue 388,with a 2.4in dispay screen, 120 degree wide angle camera, good day/night mode adjustment, and with a 4 hour loop and GPS, Speed Cameras and loads more. Picture quality seems excellent. My Insurance Company are impressed - premium reduced.
