Hopefully the imminent update will address some of the concerns. I'm really hoping this goes ahead but I'm sorry Nathan I have to agree with others that the information so far has been too little, too late and with not a lot of detail. The event isn't that far away now and I for one am faced with the choice of this or a more local music festival with camping (the other one is free entry and £6 to camp).

Time to pull one out of the hat!

Ok well I think that you should half the price, loose the free T shirts, Loose the competitions. and just sell it to us as camping with cars !!

To be honest if you wack up a marquee you can invite live music people to book a slot and play for free to the campers thus no cost to us and they get a shameless plug for playing their next gig.

Granted we will need a toilet or two, but can probably do without a well stocked bar, and I don't think we need security as we all love our cars I would like to think we wouldn't steal or fight amoungst ourselves.

Sum up

Cars
Tents
Music
Beers
BBQ
Drunk rounders

All in fair war £25 per car !!! *spits on hand ready to handshake* smokin

If you are going to comment, make it constructive, not pathetic to be 'in the in crowd'

And it failed a second time, but there's no use bringing that up constantly in other unrelated threads. If PH won't learn from their mistakes, maybe they will read constructive comments this time, after all, Eybic has already commented on those that are just commenting with crap, rather than help.

Irony? bounce you think I'm in the in crowd? roflrolleyes No mate, I just get my arse out there & socialise & get known, then make myself hard to ignore by being proactive tongue out

Sorry to be the bringer of gloom, but all these things cost:

Cars - OK, this doesn't cost, but I assume someone's gotta pay for stewards to organise parking, access, signage etc..
Tents - OK, bring your own tent, but as above someone has to be paid to organise it, and steward allocations etc..
Music - no probs, bring a guitar and have sing round the camp fire... you want band ??.. Ahh... OK, you'll need a marquee, stage, PA, system, lights... and of course power to run all this... so generator plus all the other stuff to be hired of course..
Beers - bring your own, no probs... you want a bar inside a marquee ??? ahhh.. Ok, has to be hired, staffed and paid for too...
BBQ - bring your own of course... you want food provided ?? ... see above.
Drunk rounders - I charge £10 per ball and bat ;-)

We haven't even got to insurance, security, bogs yet... all to be paid for

Carry on....

Did any one try wheels day this year, too big, no organisation, complete waste of fuel, and time, and every petrol head was so looking forward to it!! but this event for the Sunday only seems to be all under control, maybe camping night before prebooked could be cheaper, just a thought, for us it's nice ish and local so can come in Sunday, should it be a Sunday show only with smaller fee to get in????

Just a thought, and we appreciate that these things are a nightmare to set up

Just a quick observation about the promotion of this event.

I too was interested in coming, noticed the threads about it back in May, then promptly forgot all about it.

So today, being bored and up before 5, I was browsing around here looking for something, and stumbled across the Btap thread, which talked about why it was cancelled and that it seemed piston fest was going in the same direction.

I then tried to look for piston fest info, but could not find it, as we know the search here, leaves something to be desired, but for someone like me who knows (hopefully!) my way around this place it was quite hard to find.

So it occurred to me,,that someone who is new here, or getting here from another forum or car related website, would, have no chance of finding out about pistonfest.

I then went to the PH main home page, and again no mention of pistonfest. In fact there is not even a section on the homepage for events at all?.

Finally I tried to look for it in the events sub forum,,but if like,me you have just the ones you look at regularly set up in your preferences, then it does not show up, as it's in it's own seperate sub sub forum, effectively hidden away.

I am sure someone from PH towers is on this, but I reckon the fact that with about 6 weeks to go to the planned date, it's time to get it more noticed and easier to find.

Just my two cents observation and only trying to be constructive to help the attendance numbers increase!

I think that my point might just have been made!

Almost 7 hours after my post this morning, and not a single response.

I think you will find this corner of PH is tumbleweed central!

Whilst I agree with your points on the advertising of it (it was the same for BTaP) and neither are/were featured in the events section of the daily email like LeMans was; with regards to response times we have to cut them some slack and remember that they only work here, they don't spend 24/7 on the forums, they are allowed time off & Eybic is on his own on this ATM as PG has left.. That said, responses are crap (like they were for BTaP) frown

I'm not blaming Eybic, I'm blaming the management for not getting a grip of the situation sooner.

That seems to be just Eybic at the moment, hence I'm thinking we should cut him some slack.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I am only trying to help with some constructive feedback.

I hope that eybic and the rest of the team get the time to do more to promote the event, and get the numbers up too.
