Discussion
Hi Guys
Myself and a few pals are heading off to North Wales on 22nd June to enjoy the tunnels on Conwy, the Llanberris pass and of course the Evo Triangle. We'll then head down past Bala towards Black Rock sands where I'll take some fleet pics.
You're welcome to join us, what ya got?
Cheers

Hey Tim
Good to have you on board, would love to see the Nismo tearing up some Welsh tarmac.
We're setting off from Leeds area in the morning, I reckon we could get to the address below in Ruthin at approx 11am, there's a gravel car park just 100 yards from the roundabout which looks good to meet. I'll be in a silver 330D, my friend Zia will be in his Black E60 M5, I'm also expecting an S8, a 964 Targa and maybe a Clio V6 mk2.
This address is just a few miles from the Evo Triangle.
A494, Ruthin LL15 2AA, where the B105meets the A494.
Another rest stop would be Llanberris car park overlooking the lake, if we split up or someone is late, we could meet there at 1pm. Pete's Eats cafe is just up the road - would be a good place to get a bite to eat before exploring more.
Nearest Shell V power petrol station is in Mold, CH7 1UE.

I was Llanberris way again last year and got a ticket in a 30mph so don't go by the 'tourist' doing 20-25mph as it might be a local that knows there are speed awareness guns ahead
believe it or not Llanberris Pass is a lot better when there's been heavy rain for a few days
also I'd check as some of the car parks out that way can be chargeable and not always reasonable charges

two years back we stopped at (Y) Giler Arms, Rhydlydan which is near to the A5 and the Evo Triangle and was please to find how little traffic was on the A5 out that way (out of peak times)
if you need to stop for any reason there's a tea place near Llyn Brenig on the B4501 side of the Evo Triangle
we've been both ways round the Triangle but I can't remember which is best as those roads aren't suited to my slower small Midget so I favour the much narrower and twisty mountain roads, some of the ones in between and around Llyn Tegrid and Lake Vyrmwy but not the roads that go round those lakes as they can be a bit busy after not seeing any cars for miles on the other roads
we'll be up that way again (5th or 6th year) this September, mid-week to avoid all those wide fast cars
P.S. please don't be like the Porsche driver we saw just as we were turning off the Triangle and he was turning on, very dark day with black clouds and persistent rain, he was wearing sunglasses! they must have been so expensive that he wanted to get his money's worth out of them no matter what, they were badged but I didn't see if they were Porsche badged but what's the betting

Hi Rich, Hi Nige
Thanks for the invite to hook up - great idea, it's going to be an awesome convoy of tasty machines. I can't wait.
I've noticed that theirs a big white pub at the top of The Triangle called the Sportsmans Arms, the car park looks to be a decent size, I think we could for our 40+ cars there???
I'd love to see your route, PM or email to me.. smcniven AT gmail dot com (SPAM friendly text)
Today I had Powerflex bushes and Michelin Pilot Sport 3's fitted to the front of my 330D M Sport - now it feels dialled in, the steering feels like its gone from 480 to 1080HD, I can feel a lot more of the road and the initial braking bite is sharper.
Wait until you guys see the shine on my mate Zia's black M5, I showed another mate a pic, his reply was 'what colour is it'? The reason he asked was because all you can see is the reflections!!!
Another mate Andy is so looking forward to this as he is a newbie petrol head, get this, because he lives in the Netherlands he is sending me £6k for me to find and buy a Civic Type R!!

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the welcome.
As far as a place to meet up, I will refer to Rich and Dan.
I know hey went out recently in the GTR to do a recce of the route and find some places for grub stops etc.
So I will ask them to comment on the pub you suggested, and see what they come, back with on what they had already found from their previous trip.
Thanks for the welcome.

The Sportsmans Arms is not open as a Pub these days. It does have a car park though the residents might be a bit peed off if 40 of you try to stop there. Thanks for the invite to hook up - great idea, it's going to be an awesome convoy of tasty machines. I can't wait.
