I'm thinking about it but how much "attention" from the police does such an event usually get? They must know that it happens and that there'll be some people who probably won't be as law abiding as others when it come to speed attending and I could do without the hassle/ASBO (or whatever the "anti car-meet" thing is) to be honest.
I did wonder if this is why the Help for Heroes event was cancelled ?IanH755 said:

My concern is exactly this-awareness has grown now, and I'm sure that includes awareness within the BiB.The shortest route is around 430 miles which Google Maps says would take around 8hrs whilst the fastest route is around 450 miles for around 7hrs30 Considering the time to do it this year is the shortest for a long time (losing an extra 10 minutes) leaving you just 6hrs50 to do it then it's obvious that it's not do-able whilst sticking rigidly to the speed limit.
I'm keeping a very close eye on all the planned roadworks over the two weekend's (18th/25th) to see which is best.

When I did this in 2013 I don't remember seeing a police car the whole way.
Not even any druids around Stonehenge!
There are plenty of cameras along the A303 and I think the A12 too, though, so watch out for those.
As for sticking to the speed limits, I very much doubt it's possible to do it in time, but you could do it without going too crazy.

I should be there on 25th June barring anything eventful happening in the meantime. Will be my first go at it, most probably doing it solo.
I'll be in a MK2 MR2.
EDIT: Having just bought a Saab 9-3, I may well come in that. It's a damn sight more comfortable.

Do you know how long the camera zone is?
If anyone does this the weekend before us please post an update on here (along with any roadworks tips).
I'm down this week and off to Kent on friday so sadly I can't make it, but there is some info here. If anyone does this the weekend before us please post an update on here (along with any roadworks tips).

I would say under five miles of length, but I don't focus there too hard on distance. I usually set CC and have a listen to The Eagles. There is also overnight closures of the A30, but they start on the 29th. You're all lucky in that regard! There is also a couple more cameras along the A30, one near Polyphant (its after a downhill stretch and a left hander) and another near tedburn st. mary and Pathfinder village. Otherwise there are some places to get a serious move on. Not that I ever have...
The A12 between the M25 and Ipswich as two average speed check areas. Both would be easy to miss at night and when tired. The first one is around the Witham area and the second one just north of Colchester past the Shell garage.
I thought I'd mention them as my Road Angel still doesn't alert me to them..

I'll be there on my Kawasaki Z1000SX. I'm travelling down on Friday from Norwich, staying in Newquay Friday night. I'll spend Saturday chilling and trying to grab some Z's.
I have my fingers crossed for the weather.
Phil
You're doing the run on a bike? Top man! I have my fingers crossed for the weather.
Phil
Where is the official starting point? Is it the visitor centre?
Weather looking good at the moment, fingers crossed!
