Definitely up for this. smile

Just need to find the right co-driver.

has anyone done the Scottish equivalent? Google maps says 5hr 50 from Ardnamurchan Lighthouse to the port in Peterhead, and with a sunset at 9:21pm and sunrise at 3:32am it gives 6hr 11minutes of night. Needless to say, the roads on that route are far more interesting, but would it be hard to maintain the required average speed?
Did this run in 2012, I think.

Finished it with 40 minutes to spare using an Alfa Romeo 147 without going daft.

Far too easy.

Biggest hazard was the deer. Not the little things you see running around but bloody great stags leaping out in front of you.

Spectacular sunset over the Cuillins in Skye but Land's End to Lowestoft was much more fun.

Jim.

This year could be a good one as there are a good 30miles of 50mph average speed limits along the M3.
So apart from going up to the M4, you'll to do some cross countrying otherwise you won't make it without breaking speed limits.
Am actually interested in doing this now as its going to involve some proper map reconnaissance and planning.
Might even do it in the Cerbera which means 2x refuels, just to add to the mix.

Thinking about it. Will be a red Fiesta ST if we do make it down.

I'm going to replace the crank sensor tomorrow, it's developed an odd hiccup at 2500rpm.. HOPEFULLY that'll cure it... otherwise, it may not happen this weekend. it's driveable, but wouldn't want to risk it on such a run if it's not 100%

Crank sensor fitted... car's running MUCH nicer.. I'm in two minds about finding somewhere to stop on Friday night, or just heading over Saturday morning and having a kip somewhere through the day

I'm also going to test my Drift on time-lapse more with the external power supply I've just fitted, so I'm HOPING to be able to film the entire trip as a time-lapse

Well me and Mrs. vette, have a few days free over this weekend.
It's just driving down to start point 356 miles away.

Then 466 miles from LE to Lowe' Easily doable in a 150 CDTi diesel Vectra, with no fuel stops required.

(range over 700 miles when I want)

vette

Failed to find a co-driver but may still give it a go alone.

If I'm there it'll be in something red, Italian, and most importantly, on foreign plates smile

I'm doing it solo...

at least, that's the plan.. still got a hiccup when the revs drop past 2500rpm but can't see anything on the ECU software :S

The challenge is that I'm travelling from Belgium, and can only leave early Saturday morning. Plan was to share the driving with the other one sleeping in the car.

It's nearly 9 hours driving to get to the start!

That sounds like a MAF sensor

Now that is dedication!

I hope you all have fun and a great but safe drive.

Mind the speed cameras on the A303, M25 and A12, there are quite a few of them, but sat nav will be your friend.

I was very tempted to do this again (I did it two years ago) but I'm doing a 1,000+ mile trip from Kent to Scotland and back next week which won't be cheap for a pauper like me, but I may well do this again one year.

Good luck everyone! drivingthumbup

If it had one, it might be. It's got a MAP sensor which is working fine. The hiccup is gone, but I'm getting a bit of bogging down under load at high revs now. I think the position of the crank sensor may be a touch out and so is affecting the timing. (or I've forgotten to reset the soft rev limiter in the ECU :S )

Found a co-driver so we're in. What is the start time?
