Red Cerbera will be there ready for the off Sat evening.
Going to take a cheapie walkie talkie from Maplins so if anyone else has one bring it along, we can get ourselves on the same channel and have some radio chat en route.

Good luck everyone.

I wanted to do this but I originate from Lowestoft and don't live too far from there now. So I would be driving to LE and back. The finish at Lowestoft would be a bit of an anti climax for me having grown up in the area. That said I would still like to tick this off my list.

There are new average speed cameras on the A12 around Witham btw. Very subtle and probably difficult to spot at night as they are small and Blue iirc? Certainly not obvious anyway so once you get past Chelmsford stick to 70. smile

I also think the 40 limit just before Ipswich has now been cleared. No fixed cameras north bound on the a12 between Ipswich & Lowestoft.

Any idea which model? I'll try and go to Maplins on my way to LE.

I think they're Binatone Latitude 100, think they cost about £20 for 2, but have had them a while. Shouldn't matter what ones you get as most of them use the same frequencies for the channels anyway, don't go spending loads on them though as the cheapie ones are fine for this

Count me out. Spent yesterday doing a shed load of work on the car after identifying that the reason the crank sensor was appearing faulty and the ignition was out was that the overlay pulley had shifted on the main crank pulley body.

She's back together and running but until I've done a few more miles I'm not keen on throwing her at a trip like this.

There were 8 of us at the start. We're on our own now on A303 just west of Wincanton and about 10 mins ahead of schedule to make it. Fingers crossed.

Making good progress in blue Audi. Got stuck behind overloaded Suzuki crawling through the thick fog at 30 - our fault for stopping to video the cars leaving the hotel!
No delays on a30, on m4 at Slough. Eta 4:26 but have one driver change and fuel stop to go.

Making good headway, passed through A303 with no issues, druids already gathering at the henge but roads all empty... Perhaps they all came on their dragons?! Quick refuel at Andover shell garage and back on track to the M3.
M3 roadworks from fleet services had their enforced 50mph limit for about 15 miles, but all passed without issue. Onto M25 and a quick driver change at j17, now approaching j21 on M25 and currently approximately 18mins ahead of schedule.

Just got home (Ghent). What a blast!

Will post some photos later on. 1952 km, 6 or 7 stops to fill up, car performed perfectly.

Absolute pleasure to meet you all.

A303, M3, A11 - one fuel stop at South Mimms - arrive, 4.15.

Special mention to Sunbeam_Alpine for the most epic road trip of all, proper dedication and a wonderful car!

Shame I missed it, as it looks like a good turnout.

In hindsight, it's probably a good idea I didn't try it as the car has developed a misfire today, I suspect a coil pack!

There's always next year..

A quick video of the cars leaving Lands End: https://goo.gl/photos/wP7hrg3R8Fw7cpWN6

Having watched it, I apologize to those in the Alfa for the amount of smoke that we were belching out - I learned that the accelerator in that Audi makes it louder and deploys a smokescreen, but doesn't appear to do much to the speed... smile
