Hey peeps,

I've wanted to go to the EVO Triangle for a while since seeing and hearing about it on different videos and threads (the best being the EVO video with all the old school turbo super cars, McLaren F1, F40, F50 etc).

Anyhu, I had a day off last Thursday and headed up to North Wales, as I once heard it can get a little busy on the weekends with like-minded road-users; when i was there, there were only a few bikers and one or two cars. Generally I think it's a decent set of roads but I think my favourite part of it was the B4501 which kind of looks Alpine and has the sweeping bends and undulations and all within the speed limit throughout.

Incidentally the people there are very nice; I thought maybe they'd be a little tired of thrill seeking drivers/bikers. I had to ask for directions for the nearest garage as the sat-nav directed me to a disused one and the lady I asked was really helpful. When I got to the nearest garage (A5...top bloke), they'd unfortunately run out of blue coolant but were kind enough to let me have a spare container and water, really nice of them!

May be it was the unfamiliarity of the roads or the fact that I had to sit around whilst my car cooled down (had to top up my coolant with the spare mix I'd taken and then later with the aforementioned water) but it wasn't phenomenal, rather it had a nice mix of roads worth experiencing. It maybe that I just prefer tighter twists??? Anyway it's just my two bobs worth, would love to hear other people's thoughts...I think there are some roads around Bala that others like? I couldn't get there as I decided to get back to the Midlands in case the overheating got worse!

Cheers!
Sharky

ETA: I really liked the drive up there near Llangollen!!!! Epic hills/mountains and dappled sunlit twisty A roads running alongside the hills which were reminiscent of Derbyshire I think.

I'm not familiar with the EVo Triangle either, but had a hoot further down in the Brecon Beacons.

and then down to Devon...

Sharky86 I'm with you leave the triangle to bigger, more power, need higher speeds, wider (or fat arsed) cars

if you've got a mk1 MR2 then it's a little wider and lower than my Midget but to you may enjoy the roads I go on, go at the right time and you owned the roads

we're going to Wales again this September for the fifth or sixth time in a row, our friends follow in a Toyota Supra not so suitable so we usually end up waiting for them to catch up

we've stopped overnight within a half a mile of the Evo Triangle and still didn't go on it but last year we went on it to say we'd done it, we'd been on much better roads, for my car at least, all week

if you like operating the pedals, gears, brakes and steering and having thrills below licence losing speeds then PM me and I'll send you the pdfs I made for another PHer when they asked me for details

nta16 I think you've hit the nail on the head, the EVO triangle must be great for really high powered cars and I do actually like 'operating the pedals, gears, brakes and steering' as you said! smile I have no idea how to do a PM though?!

I'd noticed the Brecon Driving Day but don't know if I'll be available around then but many thanks Lord Grover smile

you managed and you've got a reply, I hope the roads don't disappoint now, pick your time well and you'll have the roads almost entirely to yourself and I don't mean stupid o'clock in the morning when you should be in bed or too late at night when you should be relaxing with a pint, enjoy biggrin

If the Triangle left you a little wanting, then the road for you sir is the B4391... Drive the sections both before Bala over the mountains from England and then the bit after Bala over to Ffestiniog. But shhhhhh don't tell everyone wink

Richair, I partly recall you did a convoy out in May/June and a suggestion about the roads around Bala but I'll keep it under my hat wink

nta16, erm, this is a bit awkward but it wasn't me who PM'd you as I've googled it and still haven't figured out how to do it, but fair play to whoever did biggrin

ETA: Just figured out how to PM!!! You will have mail smile
