Got back yesterday from our annual european roadtrip. This year we covered 8 countries in 7 cars including 2 x Ferrari 458 Spiders, 1 x 981 Porsche Cayman S Techart, 1 x BMW Z4M Roadster, 1 Alfa GTV, 1 Renault Megane and 1 Audi S4 Cab Supercharged.

Our route was:

York - Start
Hull - Ferry
Rotterdam - Landing
Stuttgart - 1 night
St Moritz - 2 nights
Martigny - 1 night
Nice - 2 nights
Monaco - visit
Milau Bridge - visit
Narbonne - 1 night
Andorra - passing through
Jaca - 2 nights
Santander - Ferry
Portsmouth - Landing
York - Finish

We covered just about every mountain pass on the route or close by and discovered a couple of new ones this year. Whilst the Stelvio, Fluela etc are all great the best stretch by far was between Martigny and Nice.

If anyone fancies details of the route I'm happy to share hotel details and the waypoints for the passes themselves.

Here's a bit of footage from my (red) 458 Spider....

From my brother's Porsche

We used radios all the way round and had no incidents or trouble whatsoever. Another great trip enjoyed by all. This year we introduced three 2 night stops so we could either play out a bit (St Moritz) or have a night out without worrying about driving the next day (Nice and Jaca).

I'm just wading through 10 days x 6 GoPro cameras worth of footage now!

Some pics...

Nicely done and a fine selection of machines. Do you have Google maps of the routes you took?

Nice one!

Not jealous in the slightest...honest!

i HAVE to own a supercar at some point later on in life, do a trip exactly like this. So far ive only done a Germany trip (nurburgring) in my 265 Trophy, roads abroad are a million times better than in the UK

This is just the kind of trip I am hoping to do next spring. Would really be a great help if you could post the route. I could then start my own plans by using your route as a basis!

Hi,

I see no plate on the front of you 458. Going to be taking mine across Europe shortly and was worried about the French in particular. (the only place I ever had trouble in my Elise.)

I don't even have one for it. Did you carry it in the boot?

I do. No trouble at all in Europe (and we were spot checked by the Dutch and Swiss police who didnt even mention it) but I was stopped on the M1 on the way back specifically for no front plate but I told plod it fell off in Spain and was in the boot and he didnt care. Didnt even tell me to fix it. I suspect as its just a fine he simply thought, "Whats the point?".

Norman, didnt get your email?

Sorry for the lack of waypoints/maps as yet. Mrs Leg had me doing jobs all weekend!

Wow I'm so jealous- very nice indeed. A V8 Ferrari in a tunnel- heaven!
I'm not usually a fan of techart etc but it's a nice addition to the cayman, like it.

Must do something like this sooner rather than later.
