We're planning on going this year but can't seem to find out certain info.
1. Is it advisable to book tickets in advance?
2. Is a grandstand ticket worth it?
3 If yes to the above, which grandstand?
Thanks
I'd advise getting tickets in advance...It's then a simple matter of going to the office near the town hall in the main square to collect same and your goody bag.1. Is it advisable to book tickets in advance?

I'd also recommend getting grandstand seats - We used Tribune Wilson in 2014. It was just possible to see 3 hairpins on the hill as the cars came up to the Cathedral.
If you need accommodation, then get in early - and parking is at a premium for the Fri/Sat/Sun of the event.
We had a great time there,,,really, really rate the whole experience.
Nick
Just booked accommodation for the weekend near the cathedral, with parking
Have a few questions if someone can help please:
Which grandstand is best to book and do you just book on the main event website?
Also, do you need tickets for the actual race (assume so) and are paddock passes available?
Once booked, do they send tickets to you or is it print from email?
Many thanks,

Mind telling me which hotel? We're booked in on the outskirts and all the city centre ones appear to be booked already.Have a few questions if someone can help please:

'm just looking at the plan of the circuit and was wondering if you meant Tribune Cathedrale. Seems like you would have a really good view of the straight. But would your view of the hairpins be blocked?I'd also recommend getting grandstand seats - We used Tribune Wilson in 2014. Whereas Wilson looks to be on top of the hairpins but with possibly limited view of the straight.
See below.

Had to call the hotel to verify the booking...just to make sure!
Still 6 hotels with parking showing rooms available.
Thanks for the tip. I have booked them 16th to 18th Sept.,but the reservations clerk was unable to confirm that we would be able to leave the car all day Sunday. He said we would have to wait until we were there for a definitive answer.Had to call the hotel to verify the booking...just to make sure!

We've stayed at Appart'City and it's Ok
There's parking on the road to the side of it. I reckon you are best waiting for a space then parking and leaving the car there all weekend. You can walk up the hill to the bars and racing. Cars seem pretty safe there too.
Last year the Appart'City had cordoned off some of the spaces for the competitors.
We got digs further up in the town within the walls.

What date are you travelling down?
Leaving home on the 14th; taking our time getting there.
Seems like there might be a problem with Appart'city in terms of parking though. First, you can't claim your parking space until 3pm and second, as I mentioned above, parking will have to be vacated by 11am on the morning of departure. So, unless you've booked to stay until the 19th, Sunday parking may be a problem.
Reading the reviews on Appart'city have not been mouth watering so I've booked another hotel in town which has secure underground parking. It's just a hassle having to move on the Sunday.

The race(s) are all on the Sunday
Friday/Sat the organisers are setting up the stands, setting out the crowd barriers etc.
The pits are usually in action from the Friday pm, and certainly fully operational on the Saturday.
In 2014, 2 of us drove the circuit Saturday afternoon - locals egging us on to give it some noise - childish, but fun!
We stayed in ApartCity. Parking was 'tight' - certainly on the (smallish) hotel forecourt, but there is quite a big area opposite/RH side of the hotel which took all of our (5) cars - 4 x TVR's 1 x Fezza 360 (probably 80 spaces available). The main issue with the parking is that locals would use the spaces to go shopping...but being French, they do not regard shopping as a recreational pastime - so spaces would 'turn-over' regularly. I'd rate ApartCity as a good reasonabl priced place to stay...and the girls were very friendly and helpful.

Wouldn't call the hotel "reasonable". Normally £43 jumped to £130 for the event and with reviews complaining about shabby carpets, filthy bathrooms, TV not working and no wifi. Other much nicer hotels were available but unfortunately, at the time of my search - 7 months in advance of the event!! - they were all sold out.Friday/Sat the organisers are setting up the stands, setting out the crowd barriers etc.

It's a sign of the times; if you don't book at least a year in advance for any event, you're likely to lose out.
We have a B&B in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, 45 mins south of Angouleme. We get some people staying for the weekend from time to time. The Ramparts weekend is THE big even in that area and as such fills all the available accommodation. Remember, the rest of the year there's not enough people wanting to stay in Angouleme to fill a single decker bus.
