We have a B&B in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, 45 mins south of Angouleme. We get some people staying for the weekend from time to time. The Ramparts weekend is THE big even in that area and as such fills all the available accommodation. Remember, the rest of the year there's not enough people wanting to stay in Angouleme to fill a single decker bus.
Whereabouts are you? Do you have a website/link to the property. We're thinking about taking our time going back.

I just had a look at the village on Google street view and there isn't one. Does this mean the streets are inaccessible or Google couldn't be bothered?

Ours is here http://www.aubeterrechambredhotes.com/

This is the villages web site. http://www.aubeterresurdronne.com/en/

You won't find many Google map images because the streets are quite narrow. Friday nights are the best with happy hour in the bar bringing everyone out. It's a really busy and popular tourist destination. We've got loads of weddings taking place in the area so get booked up a lot. Not sure on bookings for September, Julie keeps all the booking information with her and she's visiting UK for a week.

I can't believe I've never heard of this as I'm only an hour or so away... will be there this year too. Pitpass sounds like a great idea.

Looks interesting and picturesque but presumably access and parking for a GTR with 4" ground clearance is out of the question. What would be the options? - assuming you have a vacancy.

We're at the bottom of the village, there is a hotel opposite us with a decent car park or (so long as I still have access) we have a garage you could park in about 50 meters up the road.

Just booked reserved places in Cathedrale Tribune, looks like this covers paddock entry also?

Is this correct?

Do I need to book any other passes / race tickets?

Cheers smile

I believe you're right in thinking it covers the general entry and paddock. I wouldn't think you need anything else - at least I hope not as I have only booked the same as you.

HAs anyone mentioned the classic car rally on Saturday morning? There's a big official convoy of cars. We stopped and stood at the side of a petrol station as they went by. It took about an hour.

Sorry, no idea of the route or timings.

The Saturday rally has come past our front door three times in the past five years. It's a great spectacle, I sit on the little balcony with a few beers and watch them go past.

The only tickets left are paddock\enclosure only - is it worth buying them i.e. will we see much racing? Alternatively does anyone have two spare tickets they no longer need?

Cheers

Hi, we never have seats as you bake in the sun and wet if it rains and you only see a small part of the track, we get a paddock pass so we can watch the cars being prepared and talk to the crews and then move watch the racing at different points and to look at the cars on show around town and walk to Champ de Mars were lots of classic cars or parked. Ron.

Thanks for the reply - we've actually had a change of plan and will be in Brittany that week. Will try for 2017.

No, we'll be on the train on the 14th. At the moment I'm near Lourdes and will be doing the Col du Tourmalet today as part of my 3 week Pyrenees tour.
