The Sunday Service sign up system needs to change. Late last night I was well into the 400's and a a mate of mine was a few places ahead of me but still nowhere near the magical 300.

NOW, I am at 317 and my mate is at 299 (he was at 302 about ten minutes ago...)

What this means is that people who genuinely wanted to attend have been denied places by people selfishly hanging onto a place only to release it at the last minute. What it also means is that there are going to be people in the 300 who probably thought they had no chance of getting in and thus didn't attend...
I'm not sure I agree with this. The system works once you have learnt that loads of people do drop out last minute, often with good reason (see above posts), so don't stop checking until the morning.

What would be a problem was if people in the top 300 don't remove themselves from the list and don't turn up, but from this morning, even with dodgy weather, it looked like our allocated parking area was bursting at the seams so I don't suspect this is an issue.

Well it is a problem when you drop into the Top 300 a couple of hours AFTER the event has started and you are over 100 miles away

Great morning out, thanks to the PH team and the guys & gals from JLR. Nice to be able to dive inside when the rains came.

i had a steady drive up and got followed in by a rather nice Astonsmokin, wtf happened on the M40? ambling along with no dramas then the sky just fell in on usyikes down to 50, full wipers and still the inability to see, scary stuff. Sorry i missed the turn in too, last years event was at the development centrewhistle

Nice little Service that, it amazed me driving along in the downpour on the M40, rear fog on and down to 55mph, a Fiesta came past me like I was going backwards with no lights on. Do some people have a death wish?
Overall despite the weather a good day out, Gaydon is such a fantastic facility and it's so nice that the vast majority of the cars aren't tucked away behind ropes so that you can have a proper look inside. Particularly impressed by the V12 in the XJ220 prototype, far better than any V6!
My car started to make some strange noises on the return journey and started stuttering at roundabouts... classic Jags eh?

Yep very good Sunday service today,,free bacon roll and a cup of tea went down well for me and Tom too!

The R500 is not ideal in torrential rain, and our wipers gave up too!

Here's a photo in the car park showing just how gloomy and wet it was!

To Echo the following comments a massive thank you Pistonheads and Jaguar for putting on this event.

Thoroughly enjoyed the museum and the step back in time, some really unusual prototype cars that I have never seen before.

Then step outside into the new era of Mclaren and Lambo, well done guy's for not keeping them mothballed up,and big enthusiasm awards going to the Caterham, and the other very bright green open top car (that I don't know what it is) owners.

Also enjoyed chatting with you LewG and thanks for the tour of the Jag.. Hope the shunting problem nothing to serious.

Thanks again Pistonheads thumbup

wavey That was me in the Aston. Loved sitting behind a V8 Jag!

Did chuckle when three of us missed the turning and all turned around!

As for the event a massive thank you to everyone at PH and Jaguar for putting it together. Even though the weather was terrible the turn out was fantastic and some lovely machinery there. We even got warmed up with bacon sarnies and coffee!!!

Providing I get moved up from reserves, I'm looking forward to MB world next weekend!

Big thanks to the guys at Jaguar and Pistonheads for organising this! I will echo what others have said that the free bacon roll and coffee went down well!
Good to see the guys not afraid to get their supercars out in the wet, how it should be and fair play!

Talking to the chap when i went out on the offroad course and he says they are looking at a set up like MBW have got which will allow taster drives in F-types, XKR-S's etc, should be fun!

Thanks again to all involved, looking forward to MBW next weekend!

Big thanks from me too. Afraid I didn't get to see much in the car park, was raining when we got there so went straight inside and got so engrossed by the time we came back out most machinery had gone.

I got there a bit late (10:30) so caught the worst of the rain on the way down. Unfortunately the guy (after asking why I was there) directed me to the visitors parking and there was no free bacon. Thankfully I ignored the guy and drove round to park the Jag next to a very nice XJR-S in a similar colour, but £10.10 for two bacon butties and a cup of tea was a little steep...

Cars were good though. Great to get my first in-the-flesh look at the new XE.

Thanks, I'll pass that onto the ol'man, she's his XJR-S. We we're commenting to say it was nice/rare to see two XJR's such as yours and another black one.

Looks like it was a great day. Hopefully next year. I would love to roll up to Gaydon in a F-Type.

Echoing the thanks to PH & JLR today, was a cracking way to spend a few hours.

It certainly wasn't the weather for a Cup with Direzza's on the way up the M40 mind you! smile
