As above really, a group of us have booked for the Austrian F1 next year.
We have booked the accommodation in Gratz, after a lot of hunting the city is almost full already.
Can somebody give me the low down on transport to the track, do we take the cars, taxis or is there a train?
We are taking a week to get there and back, is there any must see areas on the way there and back, already plan to go into the mountains.
We are going there blind any tips welcome.
We did Monza the year before last and can help if anybody plans to go there next year.

A friend of mine lives down there in Styria. He goes to uni at Graz and attended the GP last year. I'll send him a link to the thread - hopefully he'll be able to respond.

I'm off down that way in April for the Rechberg Hillclimb and hoping to visit the Red Bull Ring at the same time. Most picturesque location for an F1 circuit.

Well, here I am ;-)

If your accommodation is in Graz you habe two choices to go to the Red Bull Ring:

- you take the car (if I understood you right, you travel down from UK by car, right?)
From Graz, it will take you about 45minutes to get to the circuit

- for this year's GP there were special trains from every big city in Graz and I think they will also be there in 2015!
Especially on raceday it is stressless to go there by train so the huge traffic problem will not make you worry wink

When you stay in Graz, you should do a city trip, Graz is really nice wink

Oh and for your trip:

- Salzburg is also very nice.
First there is the Hangar7 (an old flight hangar, rebuilt by RebBull)
Birth house of Mozart

- you can also visit the high trail roads on the Großglockner or the Silvretta road

BMW320IRL many thanks for the information, we will look at the places you recommended, and you are correct we are taking the cars from the UK.
If we take the train from Gratz does it go straight to the race circuit, when we get off the train do we need a taxis to get to the circuit or can we walk it?
Do we need to buy the train tickets in advance?
If we take the cars to the circuit what is the parking like, and the security?
Would it be better to take a taxis from Gratz seeing as there will be 8 of us, any idea of the cost?
We plan to go to the practise, would it be better to take the cars to the circuit on that day?
