The 944 breaking again and the s2000 demanding new pads at the rear mean I'm out. Removed from list Sixteenwm you are in!

Can passengers hop in for free? With a helmet too of course, also anyone know if a bike helmet would suffice?

Hmm, still 159 places away with a week to go. This would be my first SS, how are my chances based on past experience? confused

For the first time I may be able to make one of these.

Can I kindly ask, as per last SS, that those who can't make it remove themselves from the Calendar link and the rest of us may get a chance. Thanks smile.

Yeah, this was fine last year. (Presuming you don't mean pedal bike helmet :P). Passengers have to attend the briefing, sign the form and get a wristband iirc.

Is it not possible to park elsewhere on site an just walk over to the PH area?

Im not particularly fussed about having my car parked in the PH area.

Hi Graham,

I don't think there will be anywhere else to park as there is only our event and the track time happening on Sunday and unfortunately our area is fully subscribed.

Surely there are more than 500 car park spaces at Silverstone? There's all the stuff outside the gate for starters, the whole industrial estate where GPR is based, etc.

Indeed there are but I doubt they would let you in to park there and wander round.

You're more than welcome to try but I don't think they let people in to park up and wander around, Silverstone have invited 500 PHer cars along and we don't want to jeopardise this by having more cars than they anticipate.

RE : Thinking of doing one of these for the first time - Is the general consensus to go without insurance and just risk it? Is that what most people do? Track day insurance for 30 minutes seems a bit steep.

can anybody in the know comment on this for me please :

I have just done a quote for track day insurance with http://www.moris.co.uk/ and it came out as £76 with admin fee etc , I did think this was a little expensive but when I was reading the terms and conditions I noticed this :

What your Trackday Policy does NOT cover:

• ....Bikes.

•... Internal damage to the engine or to the gearbox or transmission.

•....Mechanical, electrical or computer breakdown, however caused.

• ...Liability to other participants, to any third parties or to passengers or any property damage.

• ...Competitive driving, (in other words, whilst racing or on timed runs or trials).

•... Consumable items such as tyres, oils, linings etc.

•... Extra costs involved in repairing specialised paintwork and logos unless specifically agreed.

• ...Shipping / Transportation / Recovery costs. (Note: insurance of recovery costs for circuits in England, Scotland or Wales is available as an optional extension. This option is made available when completing your payment for vehicle damage insurance online).

• ...Labour costs exceeding £50 per hour (including VAT).

• ..Damage to the interior of the car caused as a direct result of airbag deployment.

• ...Loss or damage to the car whilst being driven by any person other than those specified within the Confirmation of Cover document.

You must take all reasonable steps to:
(1) Prevent or reduce loss or damage and
(2) Observe any legal condition, by-law or other regulation.

I am a little confused about this part :

• ...Liability to other participants, to any third parties or to passengers or any property damage.

does this mean that if I hit another car or property around the track then they will only pay for fixing my car and not the other car that I hit ?

does not sound right does it ?

I will be ringing them to confirm but just wondered if anyone had any knowledge of how it works , maybe been unlucky enough to have to have made a claim

thanks

Only covering £50 inc vat per hour labour? That would be a very small garage imo.

My name is coming off too! Looks like I'll be doing the track time instead.

I take it I don't need a smiley for the track session? My work laptop has banned me from downloading it!
