I concur after watching the video you've put up. Awful driving. You bounce the limiter on the gentle sighting lap. The only reason I watched more of your video is that you were also in my session but I didn't remember seeing you. At around 14 mins, you overtook the Civic Type R, on a corner. Just after that you can see me in my XFR and you manage to stuff it past me before the end of the pit straight.

I might make a few mistakes at times, but you can see in my car there is an MX5 who is very unlikely to have the straight line speed that I have, but still I waited for the straight and gave a huge amount of room. Then you come flying past. You did not wait for any indication from me, I moved onto the right to make sure the mx5 was clear and set myself for the next corner. Then I stayed right as you looked dangerous, not fast.

There are also countless times where you also brake late into the next set of corners and stuff it inside other cars on their racing line. I can't believe you didn't get black flagged. I hope you don't think your driving is heroic, it is dangerous to other users of the track. We were all there to enjoy it and if you believed you were more capable than everyone else on track, you should have gone into an intermediate session. Your driving ability isn't at question, but your respect of everyone else using the track is.

On a side note, anyone know why the 360 was black flagged? I was behind it and thought it was me for a lap!

That was my reaction too John D...PH is disappearing up it's own arse with some of the posters and their stupid overly critical comments on what was a TRACK DAY, not a race session.
I Saw nothing to get upset about in mlh's vid.

Overtaking on the corners/both sides is perfectly reasonable in a race session, but not on a move track session where it was made clear in the briefing that it was overtake only on the left when on the straights. thr guy is obviously quick and if the video was from an RMA track day I would be complimenting it, but not on a novice session where people aren't expexting to be overtaken on the corners.

Secondly ON A SERIOUS NOTE no not "horrific" but I agree with some of the points. The thing with passing the Integra on the right was that it was basically touching the kerb on the left whilst doing what looks like 25mph. If they'd been paying attention in the briefing perhaps they'd know that if they're that nervous they should be a bit further right to let faster cars through? Yes, some of the overtakes were a bit...err.. corner-y, and perhaps knowing he was in the novice session he could have given people a liiiiitle more space (Porsche). Or taken it on the chin, admitted he was late to the party and not joined in. It kind of defeats the point of a novice session if there's a guy tearing round at almost literally twice the pace. I can see why some of the overtakes happened where they did, there were some (rightly) very slow cars out on track and a fairly quick and slightly frustrated M3 driver. Maybe think about how much you want to go on track vs whether you should. It's the same reason they don't let the adults out with the kiddy karts, the closing speeds are too high and someone might get hurt.

I dont think the driving as that bad...
But why is he flashing the pace car (or is it me?) is it some kind of Masons trackday code?

Maybe my point should have said awful driving for that session.

I'm not an expert, and fortunately wasn't caught up, but the way everyone else treated each other seems to be first class.

It definitely has me contemplating my next track outing if there is support of this type of driving in a novice session where the briefing drummed it in to everyone that consent and overtaking on the left, on a straight were the only way.

Anyone know of a "baby session" I can attend?

Get yourself along to a Javelin-run day at Bedford. Long circuit (3.8 miles), plenty of space and not much to hit. They have very little tolerance of bad driving, and for me were an excellent introduction to track days

It was a Novice 'tatser' session - accept that you drove like an aggressive, arrogant knob.

You were lucky not to be black flagged and if you have any sense should be apologising to the guy in the M3 that did rather than 'defending' (re-enforcing) your selfish attituide.

Did he actually have any direct impact on your track session and cause you to crash, let alone anyone else????

Actually he was called in and let straight back out!

And he did apologise to the other M3 owner (who also isn't a track novice by the way) on the day who wasn't accepting and decided to air it further on here.

Based on the above, who is coming across as the knob!

Capturing many of the TVR's that attended the day(Mine pictures 75/76) I think picture 76 of the cockpit shows what a lovely place these are to spend time behind the wheel.
Coming up at nearly 18 years old and all original apart from the Leven bits it's holding up well

Loved the colour of the T350 in picture 21/22 inside and out,exterior Green one way,purple and brown at other angles(My favorite TVR of the day)

On a side note thanks to PH for making these events possible,some beautiful and well turned out cars in the car park and some great action on track to pass the hours.

Thanks also goes to MRC986 for leading our 11 car Midlands convoy run which we managed to keep together 99% of the time.

I was there in my silver MX5 on the 11:20 session. Everybody else in that session had far quicker cars than I had so was getting passed a lot. The blue M3 with orange wheels was quick, got a nice video of him passing me to prove it, but he cocked up the entrance to Luffield for me on one lap which I was a bit annoyed about, but I'll let him off coz I like his motor. :-)
Got a similar video of the white Golf R passing me on the back straight too. If either of you want them, PM me. They're only short so not worth uploading.

The Sunday Service was good, lots of lovely motors on show. I thought there was loads more space available for more cars though, think of all those people that had their name down and wanted to come but couldn't?

Also, there was no PH 'stand' for me to buy some smileys??!! I was gutted! I want some smileys!!

Highlights of the day for me were obviously the track time, the yellow Intergrale, silver E30 M3, white 1M, i8 and the two blue M3's giving it large.

I agree there is no need for name calling here.

However, you are right I didn't accept the apology afterwards, for two reasons, firstly it was not an unreserved apology admitting blame for the incident. It was a 'I'm sorry if I did...'. There was no 'if' about it, he was in a position on the track he shouldn't have been, and I couldn't see him from where I was, which forced me to cut across the pit exit. Had someone been coming out at that point nobody would be discussing the merits of his driving. We would have had a big accident to discuss. This is why I was unhappy, due to this driver ignoring the rules I was put at undue risk. And for that I expect an unprompted, unreserved apology. None of which was forthcoming.

The fact I knew the guy personally just made it worse, as I'd expect even more courtesy from someone I know.

What was in that thing! We were going to time you lapping it until the red flags came out.

It was around 1:11 to 1:12 but that was short shifting at 5500 and trying to find a rhythm (which I never really found due to the flags).
The engine is still original factory standard, never been apart with 39,900 miles on the clock. It's been a bit of an experiment on how far I can push it without internals really. It's 242bhp and 280lb/ft @ 18psi.
Otherwise, Slightly uprated turbo with 360 thrusts, 3" thick FMIC, 3" Mandrel bent exhaust and TIAL V44 Wastegate, Astra VXR injectors, Helix clutch and Adaptronic standalone engine management. And then a 4-pot, 330mm brake conversion up front, front and rear strut braces, interior stripped out and a bucket seat/harness.

New engine being built which should add another 200hp for next year

I rescued this car from a Scrapyard back in 2000, after a fire. Hard to believe that it's lasted this long and been this much fun. It was so very nearly coke cans and saucepans
