Thanks for the run notax, it was a lot of fun. I'd love to come on any more hoons you've got planned if the SLK isn't too slow! Should sound nicer once my Piecha exhaust system arrives from Germany at least.

If any of you guys that went are interested I can share my dashcam footage of the run, will post up a private youtube video or can email it over?

It's mainly just the rear end of the orange Mclaren though haha not sure which user that is?

Nice to meet you (although brief). Can you ping me that camera footage? My go pro cut out and caught all of 15 mins, will try and piece it together to make something half decent. (same goes for anyone else with video footage)

Email address is james crichton 1984 at hotmail dot co dot uk

Got home and my macbook is dead, will get it all off at work tomorrow and send it out.

I'll see if I can edit it all into one clip on my phone now but if not shall be tomorrow.

Yeah nice to meet you too, I would have stuck around a bit longer but had to leave early. The journey there was the best bit though haha! I tried to follow the route on the way home but got majorly lost!

Did anyone bother listening to Notax at the briefing about keeping other cars in your rear view mirror, waiting for each other at junctions? .........Thought not frown

Glad to see the guys in the black BMW paying attention, making a wrong turn within the first 100 meters then getting it wrong again on the M3 rolleyes

Sadly after 20 mins of waiting and sodding about I gave up and made my own way there frown

Thanks anyway Notax, a noble gesture smile

I don't remember there being any BMWs? Were they definitely part of the convoy or did they just tag along for fun?

I kept on holding back so the car behind me could catch up but then I lost sight of the orange mclaren so had to put my foot back down rather than lose the route.

Footage wise I've just looked and realised I forgot to change my SD card so I've overwritten most of it. I've only got the protected files that the dashcam counted as possible accidents haha due to heavy braking or bumps from suspension etc

I've got about 3gb of 1080p footage, uploading it now but my connection is playing up and says it's gonna take 8 hours. Will check on it in the morning and send it out. You'll have to put up with the POV from my pleb car though haha.

I've reviewed it and got most of the pre-hoon (sorry, I forgot to turn off my radio until half way, it was early!) with notax, shantybeater, the RS4s and a few others. Some really good sounds from notax's SLS on that bit.

I've got about a third maybe half of the main run but there's only a few good clips where you can hear everyone roaring off one by one. Luckily I didn't manage to keep the bit where I cut the corner at quite a rate of knots very close to the 4x4 coming the other way, or when someone near the front overtook about 5 cars with police coming the other way haha.

Anyone else manage to actually catch the whole run?

And that's the point, you should not have had to put your foot down to catch up, the other car should have slowed to wait for you ...etc, etc wink

Thanks Chris for organising such a fantastic hoon on some incredible roads. I'm glad your brakes worked well and the green Aventador's otherwise that poor baby deer would have been another sad statistic in the roadkill charts! The look on its face as it ran away and had us three at the front pull away and give him that stunning wake up call from our exhausts!

Thanks again and if anyone has any pics/footage I would love to see it: andy @ eclipseps . co . uk

Christ, sounds like it was a bit hairy up front, any of you catch any footage of the deer incident? Can't remember if I spotted a go pro / dashcam on chris's SLS or on the Aventador.

I'll go through everyone and email/pm what footage I salvaged tomorrow when the bloody thing finishes uploading.

Thanks again chris, really appreciated the run was really well thought out and must have taken a lot of planning! Love the SLS as well!

Great run, really enjoyed it, thanks Notax.

FWIW, I was the McLaren and I do a lot of runs 'keeping the guy behind in sight'. This run differed because we were strangers and it's easy not to trust the guy in front. The more we do it the better it gets. Also, on a final note, if for whatever reason you do lose sight of the guy behind, keep going until the next deviation and 'mark' the turn by waiting. If done correctly the delay will eventually get to the guy in the lead and we all wait.

As I say, practice makes perfect, I can't wait until the next one.

cheers

It was great fun at the front. The deer just slowed us up for a minute! Gorgeous roads and really enjoyed it. Well organised Chris and many thanks again. Would love to do it next time.

Yes, I have done many of these early morning runs, but sadly the Masser which was in front of the Hydra did not wait for it so the Hydra lost the way, I then managed to get past the Hydra, briefly caught up, waited for the Hydra, then took off again only to lose everyone frown
Anyway, what's done is done. No worries.

I'd like to echo all the comments - top work Notax!!! Those roads were amazing and I particularly liked the way you set the expectation for a nice gentle pootle in the countryside and then...........HOOOOOOOOONED it rounded those backroads. I struggled to keep up in the Aventador!

Hi guys, sorry for the delayed response. Glad you all seemed to enjoy it too! We even managed to pull together a great little hoon for the return journey too - including Mike in the Aventador, the gorgeous Volcano red 12c, and a KTM and a Gallardo that we bumped into at a petrol station! The roads were still empty so we were able to make pretty good progress biggrin

I have Go Pro footage of the entire hoon (rear facing from the SLS) and dash footage of our exit from Wilton through the crowds. Angela suggests I set up a Drop Box account so I'll try and do this. My footage is an hour long and I have no time or ability to edit it, so James your offer would be much appreciated. I'll email the Drop Box around when set up but you all have me email so feel free to send me stuff and perhaps James and I can get together to make something of it?

I'm glad the hoon was largely incident free, I saw one of the RS4s have a bit of a moment, then there was our close range deer spotting and a horse that got spooked not by the speed, but the sight of the Aventador and KTM on our return journey. No harm done in any case and we were genuinely barely moving when the horse decided to start circling in the road!

I'll probably arrange another hoon to the Wilton breakfast meet for convertibles on 28th June if anyone is interested. Also thinking of organising one to end at a really good indoor karting venue in the countryside near Salisbury on another occasion...

Cheers

Notax
