Great photos.

I saw you parked up at the hotel on Saturday smile, had the same idea of getting a few pics on the drive!
The Drive was the best bit of that Hotel!
My review!
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g9671...
Very fair and reasoned review. That hotel room is a total st hole and the Manager should be providing a refund for providing a room unfit for habitation based on the promises provided at booking. It will be interesting to see how they handle this as how a place makes a bad experience good is telling.
Well Just sent them an email this morning, so will wait to see how this pans out.
I stayed there for last year's Classic. My room, breakfast, etc was OK, so it looks as though it has gone downhill since then. I see the manager asks you to contact her PA. She should be doing that herself if she wants to sort out the problem.

I think the review is fair enough, looks like you got a really bad room (at least they'd attempted to tart ours up.

We stayed there last year as well, and it was pretty much the same to be honest, possibly be worse.

a)complained to the management for allowing the music to go on till the early hours and I explained I needed to be be up at the crack of dawn like other guests attending Silverstone Classic.(Same grumpy receptionist as ever)

Not to mention the folk running around the hallways like loons, slaming doors etc. (not good when you've been on the road for most of the day driving down from Scotland, with a pit stop to repair a fuel line)

b)drunk folk out for fag milling around the carpark in between some of the priceless beauties that were parked up (fortunately the rain kept the indoors this year, but i still went on a recce during the night since I'm a bit paranoid)

Haven't had their breakfast, It didn't look appetizing tbh (handy thing of the cooking facilities of our club stand).. and just go to the Shoulder of Mutton for dinner when ever we're down that way smile

Always meet some great/nice people in the carpark though... last year it was Maserati & Ferrari Owners, this years the Cobra owner smile

Well, they have had all day to respond to my email as per their request and having just got home from work there is no response so far!

I think Jo White's PA is going to be very busy. There's another review won their now absolutely slating the place! So bad they had dinner and went home rather than sleep in the room... laugh

Would not surprise me if it was our room?

If you look at the other reviews there seems to a theme. People have a crap room, manager shares her concern and puts a hand out but when you see that over and over again you realise she is the problem. Fix the issues don't simply manage the problems each week.

I am very late to this thread so bear with me..

I have been going to the Classic for many years - for the full three days and latterly to take in some testing on thursday afternoon too . It is my self indulgent treat where I immerse myself in racers , walk miles , chat to lots of people and take my Caterham on to our club stand . Each successive year has been better than the previous year but that trend stopped this year. I cannot put my finger on it as I sensed a lack of the usual buzz even in the sun on thursday. It wasn't entry numbers as they were huge nor was it the vile weather but I think the factors were these---

1 Unimaginative grids- too many similar races of early/mid 60s stuff. Hence E type overload.

2 Saloons terrific but could have been so hugely better if big capacity cars had been allowed- Galaxies and Mustangs etc are just great to watch dicing with Minis etc

3 Close racing - formula Junior always provides it and F1 rarely does. That's is still OK because the spectacle of 40 F1 cars is still special. But why don't Silverstone invite the FF1600 lot back as their race in 2013 (was it ?) was just amazing with the biggest ever grid of these cars.

4 Cut the demonstrations- watching a few 90s 911 and a Viper potter around in the 'GT Legends' was beyond tedious and the F1 car demo was hardly any better with only one car (Camel Lotus /Judd) being driven with any brio

5 On track demo- in the past I have seen scores of F40s, a thousand 911s, hundreds of E Types, That's fine but this year what a plunge downmarket. Any silver car ..so the not so rivetting spectacle of things like tired old silver Zafiras and Mondeos droing round in the rain .

6 Viewing- Silverstone has become progressively worse as a venue to watch racing at, thanks to huge runoffs etc which F1 demands. I wrote to the organisers last year about opening up more stands at Village , one of the few places where you can see cars which are bigger than distant specks . No response- if organisers read this then please take note.

7 Accommodation- for years I have stayed in b and b's to the NW of the track ; up to 20 miles away but I rarely see more than 3 or 4 cars ion my drive in - and it's through lovely countryside bringing me out in Silvertsone village and avoiding A43 entirely . If you have suffered in queues then worth bearing in mind. One year I convoyed in with a Maserati Khamsin and a Shelby Mustang at high speed - that was memorable.. and last year with a briskly driven C Typo Jaguar - some people have had the same idea as me !

Next year I see we are getting Can Am cars- and as long as it is a race and not some limpwristed demo it should be fantastic. But I do wish organisers would also reflect on some of the points which have been made . I think value wise it is terrific (effectively it cost me less than £15 per day for a ticket ) but I don't want to see this year's blip in quality continue .

I only went to Silverstone to see the 92 Viper and the Saleen S7, but you are right, it was not a race it was just a short demo wink I would have been just as happy seeing them in the paddock (which I did) I did not need to see them on track because as you said they just look like dots in the distance!

That would have been Steve driving the F1 Camel/Judd car, he likes to go for it smile its what they were made for smile
