Went last year, with the Vulcan and the two Lancs - awesomeness doesn't describe it! Then to witness an XJ220 at chat on the runway. Fantastic day, will be there on the Saturday.

Fingers crossed for good weather! We are going on the Saturday for the demo runs.

Have done this a few times now, is great fun...as long as the weather holds! A couple of years ago it was very wet and very cold!

There for the demo runs in my Ultima GTR. Done it a couple of times before. It is a great show and fab to give it beans on the runway.

...... Let's hope weather behaves !

The guys on the Rally for Heroes stand will be there again this year and I believe the cars doing the runs will be offering up their passenger seats for a small donation to the charity buckets. There's a couple of Lambos, 911's and some other highly fettled machinery, so if you fancy a jaunt, pop over and have a chat with them.

After missing a couple of shows this year i'm thinking i should take the family out and make them miserable with 'Dad based events', i see tickets are only available on the gate on a first come basis, anyone done this or know if there is a high chance of not getting in on the day due to tickets running out?

We live in Cranleigh, which is just around the corner, and if you are not going to wings and wheels then the traffic is bad!

Great event just get there really early, otherwise you will curse!!

Both my TVR's will be there this year for the runs, dads driving one and I'll be in the other. Tuscan and 400se. Should provide a little noise smile

It's my first year on the demo runs - what time do you advise to get there? Before 8 I assume?
Thanks

It's a year or three since I went.
As a spectator, was slightly underwhelmed.

The paddock was excellent, great lineup of cars.

But... the traffic in and out was godawful.
And the runway is so far away one could neither see nor hear that much. Rather like watching a motorway.
Didn't feel inclined to go again.

If you want to see a great air show, The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden is the bees knees, and has a display next weekend.

Great to see the Vulcan today and a mix of cars roaring up the runway .

Decent aviation display. Agree with another poster that watching the cars on the runway is underwhelming since the crowd line is so far away. Cars probably best viewed from the Eastern end of the runway so you can at least see them up close when they are lining up.

As for the traffic management...wow. Leaving the ground was utterly appalling, it was every man for himself, minimal marshalling and total chaos. Don't both with "VIP" parking - it simply means you have to queue longer than anyone else when attempting to leave.

I tried this event today for the first time after hearing and reading good things. Unfortunately the Vulcan got cancelled due to weather and the announcement was made at precisely 3pm the exact time it was meant to be arriving, so as we all stood looking into the sky they told us it wasn't going to be! You could hear the crown sigh. This plane was probably the highlight of the show, it certainly got me driving the two hours down. Regarding the cars on the runway, most were fairly ordinary, no offence meant but if your paying 28 quid to get in, MGBs and Jags don't tick the boxes. There were a few rarities like the 6r4 and Porky 962 but the line up was generally not exotic. The disappointment of the Vulcan probably spoiled it for me and this was nobody's fault however I'll probably give it a miss next year.

To be fair the Wings and Wheels guys can't control the weather, nor the ability of the Vulcan to display.

It's of no comfort to you, but the Vulcan was awesome on Saturday. smile

Hopefully you stayed around for the Eurofighter display at the end of the day, which was also phenomenal.

Agreed and as stated in my last sentence, regardless of this didn't you find it strange that the announcement came exactly as everyone stared into the sky at 3pm? It either got very close or they delayed the news.
