Its the annual Speed Trials this coming Saturday 5th September.

It’s all day on Madeira Drive. About 200 cars and 60 motorbikes take a timed run down the seafront. There’s all sorts of stuff there; Ferraris, Jags, Allards, Chevrolet Corvettes, a Tesla as well as vintage and superbikes. Freddie Hunt (son of James) is competing in a restored MG.

It is £15 to get in, kids go free. It is organised by the Brighton and Hove Motor Club, you can find us and the Speed Trials page on Facebook as well.

The Vuhl thingy is there as well.

Ooo awesome, this should be good.

Hopefully the F40 is back again, and the mighty (and ludicrous) orange Allard.

Went last year and really enjoyed it. Have already booked my parking on someone's drive for the day . Went to a nice pub for lunch as well not far from the pier but can't remember the name !

Cricketers and The Pump House are both near the pier and are quite good.. Lion and Lobster on Sillwood Street just further up towards Hove behind Holiday Inn is excellent however and a little more off the beaten track...

What a great day, The morning runs were slightly damp so getting traction down was a pain.

All the big cars came out and dried the tarmac ready for my second run.
Great stuff.

It was indeed a great day! But what a dump Brighton has become! I have been going to this event man and boy since Sidney Allard drove his odd dragster there, Dante Duce appeared, and George Brown rode 'Nero' in the bike event. Since the gallery closed and the hiatus imposed by the Greens after Roger Hollingshead's crash, the Speed Trials have reduced in impact even further than H&S had already made them, and the city has rotted. It is very sad. frown

Well done Jeff.

Looks like the 7Oaks club did quite well overall then and some valuable points gained for the championship.

Really enjoyable day as per usual. Is it just me though or were there less bikes this year? it seemed like there were far fewer of the big drag bikes from last year.

I enjoyed the two Teslas as well, shows just how quick those things are but its so bizarre seeing them coming at that speed but with just tyre noise,

Anyways, enjoyable day all round, I was running around with camera so pictures here:

Great pics rwstokes. That's our green MG, was very pleased with the way the car ran getting an 11.83 best winning the handicap class and getting beaten into 4th in class by .02 of a second by a modded Nissan GTR. The winner being a 690BHP TVR Tuscan racer with sequential box running 11.33. What a day and what an event. Our 7th year and let's hope it continues to entertain everyone and the council don't get their waysmile

A cracking day out at the speed trials, well done to the organisers and those that went up the road as fast as possible for keeping this event alive.
