What happened to the unlucky driver of the red vx220 that coasted to a halt just after copse towards the end of the 11:20 session?

You know what, I didn't even think that could have contributed to my wipe out at Copse

Fair play to your recovery!
Do you have any more video from the session - blue ST?

Think you went past me at one point?

To the guy in the White evo 5 in our session though, please please look in your mirrors next time, you were 'that guy' which was mentioned about in the briefing as you held up a good few up including me, doing the trick of dead slow through the corners especially Becketts and then booting it on the straights.
Thanks for that. How helpful of you. For your info this was the first time I've driven the car in anger (its only been in the country since July), first time I've been at Silverstone and the first time I've done any sort of circuit driving. I also found out that after the first few laps that my brakes clearly weren't up to the task. I deliberately booked a novice session understanding most people would be in the same position as me and be a little more accommodating.

I was quite happy for people to pass, I let through most people in the session where I could, stuck to the inside of corners to give people room to go past and used my indicators to let people know I was lifting off and to go past, however I got dragged into the beginners trap of constantly checking my mirrors rather than driving after having the silver TT dive up the inside at maggots and then you decided to park your beemer in my blind spot.

IIRC you were the guy in the briefing pleased as punch to tell everyone your first track day was at the Nurburgring (refering to Silverstone as the Dairylea triangle?) and was dancing round the pits with a Caterham jacket and racing booties on taping up plastic headlights? And then immediately dived out of your car to tell me how st I'd been? Which was really nice of you because I was already aware of just how st both me and my car had been.

Congratulations for booking a novice section. What an absolute driving God you are.

Karl - the only thing I would say is that no one is supposed to be overtaking in the corners on these sessions. Only on the straights! Which is why people were still waiting behind you, when you took the inside line on corners but put your foot down on the straights.

I did hear a few complaints about the TT driver being a bit aggressive, but overall though - everyone was great!

It wouldn't be a PH trackday if there wasn't at least 1 argument afterwards hehe

Hi all,

With thanks to the PH team, organising another successful event at Silverstone! It was my first time ever on a track (I'm the guy driving very slow in the white GT86) and my friends bought the track session as it was my birthday week smile

It's always been a dream to pop my cherry at Silverstone and I'm glad I did - I learnt so much about the car and everyone there was like-minded, supportive, encouraging a gent on the track.

Some photos of the day taken by both my girlfriend and myself:

TT chap was right up my ass the whole 2 recognition laps even before the GT86 pulled into the pits for us to start...I pulled to the side after 2 laps and let him go...Apart of that, everybody behaved well but i see karl's point as i do the other drivers...But Karl makes a very good point there...Its a novice session and most of us are learning and im sure he will be cornering faster next time he goes on track as he will lift on a straight if he sees someone faster. Anyway, when is the next rack session?

Oh was that the reason you were going slow? I just thought you knew I was a rookie with your camera and wanted me to get some good shots in for you. :/

Only one problem i had was just after the Toyotas had gone into the pits and the black M3 with the reg EMO left it a bit late to overtake me going into copse, leaving me pinned against the inside with you on the outside, apex then all wrong and major understeer which turned into oversteer and started fishtailing a bit. Apart from that everything went smoothly and everyone on my session (9:35) seemed fine. (I was in the silver puma)

I will say, from a spectators point of view, it wasn't always easy to tell whether it was the novice or inter session that was in hand.

I was expecting to see novice sessions at a gentler pace, and inter at a noticeably quicker one with better racing lines etc.

But there seemed to be a mix of speeds and skills in both groups - maybe that was part of the issue?

Still looked good fun though, wish I could've taken my Mini on for a session smile

Yup I have some more on track video, about 15mins in all but I cut the session short as had already done a session earlier in the day. Saving some brakes and tyres for the drive home! smile

Only reason I've not uploaded it yet... was because... well, out of embarrassment really. First time on track in the ST and I was still learning. I'll hold my hands up now and apologies if I flaunted any of the rules!

Plus the camera angle is a bit crap, it was alright when turning left, but there's only 1 left on the national circuit, so the rest of the time you get a great view of the A pillar.
