No Wilton Classic & Supercar till 2017
Discussion
This morning while I was getting ready for Christmas things & looking ahead to next June & to go round Lord Pembroke's grounds to see some of the finest cars in the world, this dropped.
WILTON CLASSIC & SUPERCAR
RESCHEDULED FOR SUMMER 2017
With the vision for the all-new Wilton Classic & Supercar as exciting as it is ambitious, it has been decided today to reschedule the event for the Summer of 2017.
The vibrant new brand, with its theme, ‘Celebrating The Stories Behind The Cars We Love’, was only recently soft-launched, but a highly enthusiastic response has obliged the organisers to delay the event date to make the most of its potential.
“We’ve been taken aback by the widespread support for the vision,” enthuses the event host and creator, Lord Pembroke. “Its scope seems to grow almost by the day, so rather than compromise in any way, we’d rather deliver a perfectly-formed and exceptional show in 2017.”
With a bold new website central to the revised brand, there’s lots of new technical development, too. “We want to get the clever functionality right, which is getting more sophisticated all the time,” explains Pembroke. “We’re doing some very cool things. All very new.”
Moreover, Wilton Classic and Supercar has other plans due in the new year, all designed to prepare the ground for the new 2017 Wilton Classic and Supercar weekend.
Next up is the new web launch. Watch this space.
To say I was gutted when I read it was an understatement, I've been a huge fan of Wilton Classic & Supercar since the beginning & always look forward to it with glee, but to have to wait another 18 months is a killer of a wait!
On the other hand, I understand plans as awesome & ambitious as this require time, patience & also to go ahead with it & compromise it would be a bit of a crime but not as much as not having an event for us enthusiasts to enjoy. Mind you, I might start attending more shows up & down the land but not one of them deliver such the kind of enjoyment & camaraderie (as I like to call some things) as Wilton.
Thankfully Lord Pembroke will still be opening the gates to his estate every month for the Wilton Wake Up's to keep us all happy till his big plans are finally ready.
Sorry for the long post.

2X the Size
3X the Entry
I hope they mean 3X the number of cars entered, not public capacity to the event. Given that it's far more intimate than the likes of FoS, promoting it by suggesting its doubling in size but with a significantly bigger capacity wouldn't make a great deal of sense.

Thanks for sharing this. How odd after they'd only released the dates for the 2016 show just a few weeks back!
I too very much liked this event and had pencilled it in already for next year having been the last 2 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd found the size quite nice and with it not being too mainstream.
Something to look forward to in 2017 I guess!

yes im dissapointed, have supported this event for many years and even took 3 cars a couple of years back,no email and never had reply to an email sent at the end of this years event congratulating the wilton team and suggested they allowed over night camping for 2016 so people could enjoy both days,no response such a shame.
I did get an email, was an exhibitor in the summer. I fear the 2-day split event didn't resonate as well as I had hoped. Very few older classics on the Sunday when I brought my DBS.
Goodwood can just about cope with FoS but any bigger and even I as a GRRC member might give it the heave. Parking arrangements last year were disgraceful. We have been promised they will improve, but we shall see.
Wilton need to take great care they don't kill the geese that lay .... The owners who bring their cars for free, getting up at crack of dawn for the fun of meeting like minded souls.
Big isn't always beautiful. Try Classics at the Castle as another event worth a visit.
I hope Wilton do hit the right buttons - but please Lord P, don't just try for a jackpot!
