Anyone heard of this new rule by the FFSA for french trackdays where cars up to 800kg's are banned in days where cars of over 800kg are allowed?
I'm living 2 hours from most Tracks in Northern France and have attended like 5 or 6 events there in the last year in my Caterham, and they are part of the reason I own a Caterham. I would be gutted if this doesn't change soon...

There's a (french) petition against this insanity:

At the risk of being controversial this is something to consider in the UK too - many trackdays for other users are spoiled by Caterham type cars slipping up their insides into braking zones

Not controversial, just total nonsense. Trackdays are spoiled by people not sticking to the rules. It has nothing to do with what they're driving.

Just to clarify sub 800kg's are not banned, the Frnech authorities have decided that cars have to be run in similar weight groups <700kg, 700kg-1100kg and 1100kg-2000kg

Unfortunately most of the days run by the likes of Lotus On Track do not lend themselves to sessions and the majority of cars are in the middle weight group so under 700kg's can not attend frown

Drats. I now have to trackday my 2cv with an additional six crates of Saint Rieul Triple. Good thing is, they measure the weight at the start of the day, so I can have a fresh bottle every time I brake into that hairpin.

Will this be run as sessions? So >700kg etc get the morning and <700kg get the afternoon? I'm just thinking about the business of track days, surely in fFrance attending one now is going to get ludicrously expensive??

They will or can run sessions I think it's more a question of whether it's financially viable
