Second question (sorry) - if I book track time, is there enough room in the paddock for tow-car and trailer? Or, since I'm not too far away, somewhere secure-ish I can leave spares/tools while I'm on track if I just bung it all in the Westfield?
Yeah, plenty of room in the paddock. Equally I think that if you phone Silverstone you can book a pit garage for the day. That's what we've done... but then we're organising the event so maybe we're just getting special treatment!JD
ETA: All done, I'm booked onto the second Intermediate session. Anyone else in the same group?

What level of cover does that give you? In my experience, track day cover is so limited, it's hardly worth the outlay. For example, does it cover you if someone else on track hits you? I don't think it will, and assuming they're not insured, then you're taking a bath in that situation.
Track day insurance covers you and only you. I have 5 events included on my policy and the excess is £1000. Depending on the value of your vehicle £1000 is likely to be a sum you're happy to pay in order not to suffer a total loss. The organisational and driving standard was high at the the last event and I doubt that there'll be any mishaps. Definitely not the most chaotic event I've ever been to. Although accidents can happen!

Thanks JD. Will get the track time booked when I can - seems like their phone lines are busy today!

I'm in the 2nd and 3rd intermediate sessions. I've been round Silverstone, but this is my first Sunday Service. Really looking forward to it. ETA: All done, I'm booked onto the second Intermediate session. Anyone else in the same group?

JD that is brilliant advice. Thank you.
I think getting an instructor will be a very good idea. I'll ask about that and see what they tell me over the phone. I'd still like some passenger rides in PH motors as well though! This is going to be a truly epic day. Can't wait.
Im now deciding whether to book a hotel or just come up from south of the river on the day. decisions decisions
We will be driving up from kent on the day, in case you wanted to drive up together ? Could get a few of us if others coming from this way?I think getting an instructor will be a very good idea. Booked on the 10:10 Int Session.
Apparently it's looking to be the most requested session. The chap did mention he anticipates these will all be fully booked by end of the day..
Lets hope the rain doesn't come as predicted.. Caterham + Aeroscreen + Rain = Wet person :-(
Same one as me. Fingers crossed it'll be dry, my Federal RSRs aren't great in the wet! I do have a waterproof romper suit to keep me dry, at least...Apparently it's looking to be the most requested session. The chap did mention he anticipates these will all be fully booked by end of the day..

I've not driven Silverstone before. Looks like quite a fast circuit, and as my Westfield tops out at about 110mph I'll try and stay out of the way

I'll look out for you understeering wildly. I'll be the one you probably overtake, much to my embarrassment (GT86).
You've seen me driving before then?? Better give the brake system a good check on Saturday, maybe even treat it to some new discs, pads and brake fluid.

Haha! I'm using it as an excuse to wave goodbye to my Pads, fluid and probably tyres. Although I imagine the frost at 9:35am may save my tyres if not my Bodywork/pride.Better give the brake system a good check on Saturday, maybe even treat it to some new discs, pads and brake fluid.

It was bang on the wear bars to start with though, thought of it as a final hurrah for the fronts, ~3mm was also taken off the rear tread, mainly though aiding turn-in given the above and clockwise circuit....
