What's the position regarding passengers who want to come, or non members who want to tag along in their own car?
Sorry if being dumb, but not been to one of these before.

You can bring as many passengers as you like. Non-members would need to join PH first then sign up. Simples!

Have signed up to come a long and said to a mate he can bring my another car of mine. Will we be ok to come in on the one pass?

Both my cars and he's not a member.

Hi all, I'm new to Piston Heads, this would be my first Sunday service. I applied for a ticket in the week just wondering when would I be likely to find out if I can attend or not? Thank you smile

You are on the list so can definitely attend smile

You'll most likely get an email on Thursday / Friday with a pass for you to print out and display in your windscreen.

Is anyone going to the Bedford trackday on Monday (4th)?

And to add to the list, I'll be running my 130i on Sunday. It'll be my first time on a strip, so I'm hoping for some similar hot hatches to compare to.

I have two drag race tickets, can't make it so selling them off at £25 each.

If you're interested selling them through eBay together or individually.

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Santa-Pod-Drag-Race-Your-O...

Hope someone can enjoy them.

Cheers

We'll announce this officially when we send out the joining instructions, but typically we start at about 08:30 and finish at 12:00 ish, although because of the on-track action it'll definitely go on a bit longer. (just like it does at Silverstone)

What time in general are people thinking of leaving sunday, if the weather is nice ?

And untill what time does the 'run what ya brung' event go on till ?

I'm planning to go to V8UK Full Power Launch first ( http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... ) , and then pop down to the Sunday service, if it's still worth it.

Though their famous convoy ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh7jSV9w2ko ) doesn't start rolling untill 11 so probably won't get to SS till gone 12 then.

Decisions, decisions....

For those that are interested, there's a convoy thread in the Thames Valley & Surrey section; meeting at Peartree Services on the A34.

Use the launch control. Very good in one of those.
Has anyone here used launch control on a drag strip? Once "staged" at the christmas tree, the count down lights will go on, then the green, and you're away! Is there time to set launch control in these few seconds? Guess it depends on the car and how complicated it is to set up?

Also, what's the score with race day insurance? All competitors' own road insurance will be invalid for racing. Is there a specialist recommended for drag racing at RWYBs?

Well you are timed once you set off from the line.
So unless you literally want to "race" the other car to the line (not that it matters as your time only counts when you start moving) just ignore the green tree.

DSG Audi/VW just have ESP off. Stop completely. Gearbox into manual / sport. Foot on brake and floor the throttle.

As above, your reaction time will be slow but the actual 400m timer starts once you actually move, not when the light goes green.

So unless you're racing the guy next to you, there's nothing wrong (IMO) with sitting on a green light for a second while you get your launch right. You may as well make the most of it if the strip's busy and you're waiting a while between runs.
