Just booked our tickets for this year's Angouleme weekend and thought I would see how many other PHers are going.

Decided to give Classic Le Mans a miss this time and try Angouleme for the first time.

Had to go for the Tribune Carnot stand as Tribune Cathedrale is now fully booked, so if anyone is thinking about going, get your tickets soon.

Bit of a thread resurrection. I'm hoping to attend this year as we will be in that neck of the wood. I have a couple of question.

I will only be able to for one day, is any day better than the rest (looks like Sunday, is the day for circuit action). Is it free to wander round on Friday and Sat, and is there plenty to see on those days.

What's is viewing like without a Tribune ticket?

A bit of a weird one, can you take dogs in (you can at Le Mans)?

Hi, we only have pit passes these are for 3 days as we like to walk around and not sit in the stands, if you do not buy a pit pass you can walk around or drive around the circuit Fri and Sat as it is the main route around town. As for "SMs" not sure as I can't remember seeing any you will have to ask the very large security guard at the entry to the pits on arrival might see you there. Ron.

Anyone staying in Appartcity? Looks like a bit of a dump but was all I could get. If so, what is the private parking like?

That's where we're staying....looks ok just a a base for the weekend.

We have now been guaranteed parking (had to pay extra) despite parking being confirmed with the original booking. Apparently it can be a bit hit and miss as locals also use the parking bays whilst shopping.

Fingers crossed it works out...

Is this their designated parking on the street or their underground car park? I prefer underground parking for security but they are always problematic for me with such a low car.

If you don't mind me asking which one out of your garage are you taking?

They've not confirmed, but I suspect it's the spaces at the side of the building. Took a look on Streetview, seems ok.

Not decided on which car yet, still weighing up whether to keep our channel tunnel bookings or book a ferry from Portsmouth due to the additional delays at Dover and down the M2...

Will you be in the GTR?

Yes, the GTR, hence the potential problem with underground car parks.

Somewhere on here I think, I read that they have an underground car park. In a review of Booking.com one guest had their hire car damaged while staying there. Presumably in their street parking allocation.

I am considering the option of re-booking out of town and driving in but again parking is the problem, although parking at an out of town hotel would be secure for sure.

we normally do Hull- Zeebrugge but doing Portsmonth- Le Harve this time and staying at Campanile as there is good parking and lots of classic car owners so they are more careful when they park up. Ron.

if you are early park on hill up from Apart'city after that it's wait for someone to move if you are in a classic the "POLICE" are more lenient with you, but remember last year there are more checks when going into the "PIT AREA" so there may be tighter parking controls this year. Ron.

I was thinking the 3 main car parks ie. Champs de Mars, Gare de Angouleme, or Les Halles. Particularly Les Halles.

Champs de Mars "RALLY" finish Saturday and car clubs only Sunday, never been on le Gare, Les Halles now used for car clubs on Sunday and a market on Saturday

Although we live 30 minutes from Dover, we are booked Portsmouth/Caen and back. We did this Brittany Ferries route last year and it was excellent. No hassle/massive queues/migrant problems.

Booked out on Monday 29/08 and depending which way the wind blows and where the sun shines, will head down to the Ile de Re, then Cap D'Agde and take in Angouleme on the way back up.

Sadly, our "interesting" cars will be staying at home as we will be towing a largish caravan behind our diesel estate! For the Angouleme bit, we will be staying at a lovely small campsite around 30/40 minutes north east of Angouleme. Will be there for around 5 days so can take in other local touristy things as well as Des Remparts.

Back from Caen/Portsmouth on 21/09.
