I'm always seeking to do new things each year I go to this event. And between us all we must have a wealth of information to share. Where to go, what to see, where to eat, best viewing, best stands, what to take into the circuit, where to camp and why, best route and much more. Please post your top tips and share anything you don't want to keep a secret.

I'll start the ball rolling with as simple one. Best autoroute route. Avoid Rouen and stay on the A28 till it turns into the A29 and come off at YVETOT and take the D131 and D490 towards Bourg-Achard and rejoin the A28 to Le Mans. It's a no brainer, beautiful low traffic roads, a great bridge over the Seine and lots of other classics on it and you avoid the chaos that is Rouen.

My other tip, if you recce the circuit on Friday morning go to the Pistonheads meet in the afternoon(if they are dong it this year), wife loves the Cider at the lake...

Happy travels

Unlike the main event in June the classic has rather more cars so if you want to follow the races you will need a list of runners and riders, with 6 different classes or plateeu's running 3 races each there are a huge number of cars. One thing you must do is get a paddock ticket, the 6 paddocks are a major attraction and you will spend quite a bit of time there, i will not tell you anything else as it will spoilt the surprise, but you must visit all of them during the time you are there

If you're coming from the tunnel get off the motorway at Abbeville - any route from the there to the south of Rouen is excellent

Take advantage of the lack of traffic (in comparison to the main event) to get round to Arnage, Indianapolis & Mulsanne. Also go to Hotel Arbor and Cafe Des Hunadieres.

Make time to look round the Bugatti circuit at all the fabulous cars parked up there as well as the paddocks

With less people around finding a table at restaurants in Le Mans is a lot easier so ditch the BBQ and sample some local cuisine.

Get to the museum

Last yr Rouen wasn't too bad. Enjoyed a relaxed light lunch in the square @ Beaumont-Sur-Sarthe.

Is there some sort of Noddy train that runs around the inside of the outer circuit that takes you to Indianapolis, Arnage and Porsche curves etc?

I never get outside of the Buggati circuit as always have the wives in tow. But plan on being more adventurous this year on the Sunday at least.

The noddy train will probably take you the Porsche Curves or at least stop outside Beausejour and then it's a short walk.

Incidentally Get yourself down to the karting circuit where you can stand on the pit garages to get a better view.

There's a proper bus that goes to Arnage & Mulsanne tribunes during the main race but not sure if this runs during Classic, but with traffic so much lighter it's easier to drive. Signage is pretty good and there's enough threads on here to give you directions to all the best viewing places around the circuit

strangely enough the karting pits were outside the ticket area last year so everyone could watch from there without a ticket not sure of the arnarge and mulsanne area's needed tickets either

from what i remember the general entry ticket gets you into Mulsanne and Arnage areas, take your own car as both are relatively easy to get to,as everyone has said a lot less traffic about than the main event

I'm with VanquishRider - try to do something different each year.
Last year, we had brunch in the restaurant over the pits on Sunday, around 1200-1300 Hrs. Didn't book, just wandered up to the very swanky looking doors and the concierge found us a table.
Reasonable value too, when you consider the view, from the balcony. There didn't seem to be any rush or pressure to get us off the table.

When you say reasonable price, burgers were 15 euro in the 60's Café by the wall of death. How reasonable was this? As I might sacrifice a few gallons of motion lotion dosh to treat the wife...
