Anyone heading to this at the weekend? There are a few of us heading there from here in Kent, MGC, MGBGT, MGA, Stag, E-type, Midget, Morris Minor, Spitfire, Dyane and a MB AMG GT.
Give us a toot if you pass our convoy....

Yep. Going for the first time as an alternative to CLM. We're on the 09:25 sailing from Dover. Red '89 Lotus Esprit and green '72 Triumph Spitfire.

As is our way, we'll be taking the daftest route down and probably arrive late to our hotel which is actually miles from Laon in St. Quentin.

Have you been before, any tips for virgins?

Best advice I can offer is to get up early for the events! There is always a queue both on the Rally day and the circuit day as there are so many cars! It is a fantastic event, this is our 3rd year and we will probably book again for next year. The whole town comes to a grinding halt for it, everyone is out on the streets cheering you on.
We are taking an abundance of Union Jacks (and an EU flag just in case the mood changes!) to try and brighten things up a bit.

PS worth having a look at all the photos on the website to get a flavour.

I'm leading the Porsche group down in my MX5 (sold Boxster, bought MX5 after booking).
We're on the chunnel at 09:50 staying at the Ibis. This will be around our 7th or 8th Laon.
We're joining Scenic Car tours Millie Miglia trip on the Monday so away for 14 days.
The wife is moaning about how to pack into the smallest car boot we've ever had. I predict a tiff on Friday morning!

Tell her she is lucky, far more room than when my other half has to pack for two weeks when we go away on my motorcycle

My Mother told her that, when I was around 6 it used to be Dad, Mum, me & my baby brother on an Arial 500 with a Watsonian double adult sidecar!

How did it go for you?

It was our first time, so we turned up early and eager to the various events, to do a lit of sitting around and waiting. Next time we'll know the score, but it was a bit frustrating. The road book was a bit confused on our return from Parfondeval too, which meant we got lost a couple of times. The run there was superb though.

Spitfire performed flawlessly and our only hitch was my BiL losing the keys to his Esprit.

It was very busy compared to other years. We took a Gallic approach and tried to be relaxed about timings etc. For us the only disappointing hanging around was on the circuit on Sunday so we pulled over and watched everyone else overheat!

Our 4th time and whilst it was an excellent weekend overall the event, for us, has just got too big. The lunch stop on Saturday couldn't cope with all the cars and some people had to park fields away and the Sunday "parade" just locked up completely at times with numerous cars overheating and others just giving up and leaving the "circuit".

We also made the mistake of going to the Celebratory Event on the Saturday evening expecting it to be a proper 3 course dinner in a nice venue. Instead it turned out to be a free for all buffet in a freezing cold marquee in the middle of nowhere - the fireworks were good though.

Was the increased numbers due to the 25th anniversary? I missed this year but am planning on attending next year.

Aerial 500 with a Watsonian sidecar?
You were lucky...

We enjoyed the Saturday stop in Parfondeval, I think we got there reasonably early though.
If you watch any footage of the parade on Youtube, it's obvious why there was so much queuing - halfwits parking up and swapping folk about, basically some selfish behavior spoiling it for the rest.

As for the Saturday night meal, I'm so pleased that we didn't bother, reports varied from disaster to travesty.

Not sure if we'll do it again, probably though, it's a nice easy weekend, if you plan it right.
