The supermarket involved seem determined to make this years event as difficult as possible to help with. Considering the "management" actively tried to stop this years event from going ahead (corporate mentality) I'm wondering they are hoping for it to be such a disappointment this year (lower donation figure) it gives them the excuse to fold it up?

Sadly I'm not able to do this years as my shiny new brakes which *should* have been fitted this week are still sat in the boot of my car and my current pads are far too low to last more than a few 160mph+ stops before being uber dead.
As far as I am aware the supermarket involved isn't involved next year but the owners of Bruntingthorpe are taking it on.
So we will see if it stays as a charity event or a money making exercise.

I've just had an e-mail from Darren, which he's asked me to post, thanking everyone for giving their time to such a good cause.

I'm gutted I couldn't go but at least another RS6 was there to uphold the RS badge biggrin

Hi Ian

It was fantastic. We had a brilliant mix of cars, some from last year, some new ones....

Cobra
Cobra
Gt40
Gt40
Mercedes c63
Mercedes c63
Viper
Fury r1
Rs6
Rs4
Mustang
Supra (600 bhp - very popular with chavs)
Turbo technics Subaru
BMW M3
BMW M3 track car
Volvo touring car
Morgan v8
Lotus Evoque (amazing car!)
Ultima
Porsche 911 turbo (he was crb checked, so took loads of kids out)
Probably a couple more that I've forgotten

We managed to get a double gate due to a couple of gates not showing up (12 lanyards) and kept a full contingent until mid afternoon when people started running out of fuel, tyres and brakes.

Not sure of the final takings for our gate, but our rough count was between £2,200 and £2,500 ish. That equates to between 450 and 500 laps! Way up on last year!

Had a great day and my little toy car just about kept up ...though some of the stuff on track seemed to have a few more horse power...

It's one of the issues which probably won't change. Some people forget it's a "Passenger Ride" day and treat it like a track day or, even worse, like a race and get the old "red mist" descending. However I found that any issues which were reported to the Marshalls were dealt with instantly.

For example last year I over took a Porsche Cayenne (the 4x4) down the straight, passing on his left as briefed. On the very next lap I did the same again and, even though he was on the straight, he swerved across to block me from overtaking whilst we were doing 110mph+. I had to brake heavily and swerve to the right, just missing his rear, to avoid being pushed into the HGV lane on the left. After a calming down and checking my passenger was OK I reported him to the Marshalls, showed them the footage caught on my dash camera and he was removed from the event.

I know mate, but you will insist on driving! biggrin

Yet another cracking day, could just do with all the drivers taking on board that it's not a race, they can't overtake on the right (although I accept the main straight is plenty wide enough for a much faster car to safely overtake on the right), and absolutely can't dive down the inside into corners. Mr White Maserati with a Big WIng nailed on the boot lid was frequently guilty of this - not one of our guys thankfully.
