we already have 300 + Supercars confirmed,
Can you clarify please as you said initially there are only 300 spaces yet only 18 are listed here

Are you oversubscribed to the extent that no more supercars should plan on appearing or what ?

If you took the time and read what I said, then you could see that I was talking about Wilton wake up, which is completey different to the classic and supercar day. Will, Jen and many others these make Wake up events a complete sucess by welcoming everyone no matter what car or class you have or are. I really hope I don't as u put it, bump into you at any future events that I attend, as I find you condescending. I do hope that next year Virginia Water goes back to its original Pistonhead event, enabling everyone to enjoy the day, whatever they own.
Must admit I'm tending to agree with what has been written above, I'm all for having the supercars parked together but that's as far as it should go in my opinion.

I can see both sides but I do understand Lee's position and that of the Royal Estate who own the car park. If it's completely taken over to the extent that visitors to the lake can't park, it'll be the end of this, and very probably any future events. On a nice day, Virginia Water is rammed at the best of times. It's a fine balance and I'm not really sure what the 'right' answer is. Hopefully it'll work itself out.

A different venue perhaps?

I'll come along as it's local - I attended the first meet which was great, even after a 16 hour flight delay and 30 minutes sleep

That said, I'll try and park in the car park and pay like everyone else - I'm not sure how the RE will determine who's a stalker or who's a walker ? Presumably my pennies in the royal coffers are as good as anyone else's ?

If the car park isn't open, there's plenty of parking up the hill in various lay-bys

This thread was purely meant as an additional way to let people know where & when, in all honesty it is not needed since we already have 300 + Supercars confirmed,

why, did you post in here then ?! (publicity) if you already have 300+ cars ? and why post here at all if you're worried about the wrong cars / too many people turning up !?

Because we wanted people who use PH who have these cars but perhaps do not use social media to be able to attend.

At the time of starting the thread, we had just announced the next date, so we hadn't filled our spaces, now we have.

Those of you who I have spoken to personally &/or those of you that have registered using social media or the website, I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks 👍🏻

a golf R is not a supercar. chrikey. yes they are quick up to about 80 and good as road cars. you can wind them up to 350 bhp and hassle super cars etc etc but its a shopping trolley and mass produced. I have one coming as the run around.

chuck the family in, shopping, seats fold down for taking crap down the dump , take it out in the snow, rain and whatever weather. basically its a don't really care what happens to it car and it can be leased. throw it back after 3 years.

a Caterham is a great giggle on the track and road but its in a class of its own!

a supercar is a mixture of many things to me...
- badge (Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Maserati etc)
- racing heritage (F1, le mans, WRC etc)
- limited supply
- one of those cars you had on the wall as a kid (in red black or yellow please ;-) )
- can be testing or even very testing to drive
- you would not want to leave it just anywhere for more than a few hours and in sight
- wide enough to worry most road control speed bumps and narrowing things
- pain in the arse turning circle
- low; outward and rear visibility was not top priority in the designers agenda
- amazing aesthetics that turn heads and get people clicking or pointing
- not an every day hack
- sth that is going up in value
- over 3 litres in capacity ;-)
- enough to want me to give up a Sunday am to come out driving and see other enthusiasts (not show everyone how loud my exhaust is , that I can spit flames if revved hard enough and I can spin the tyres and use launch control buttons. hooorraayy well done)
- and lots lots more...

look if the guys want to control the event to the right numbers & car type and the owners have asked them to then its their prerogative. the more prats that turn up in tuned bazza mobiles then the event will be canned. simples.

if you don't like it then don't go.

Agree with all of the above, apart from this bit:

The point that people are trying to make is that it's a public car park, so they have no way of controlling access. If the weather is nice I don't suppose they'll be overly popular either - VW normally gets busy on a Sunday morning..

What I got from when I attended the first one last month - When you drive into the car park the whole left hand side is being kept for "normal" cars/public. The right hand side is being reserved for this event. Hence trying to keep Supercars for this area. Anyone can go and park up in the left hand side area as that's public as mentioned. Hopefully this makes more sense to everyone ?

Agreed, and that's exactly the whole point. Not one of snobbery but realising the agreement with the landowner has to be (understandably) limiting. It's the parking that's an issue, not wanting to keep enthusiasts away as has been implied in other posts.

Fwiw, As I understand, the event is not taking place in a 'public' car park. It's in an area set aside by the Estate management for a couple of hours. It just so happens to be in a car park on private Royal Estates land that the public (me included) are ordinarily permitted to use.

I'm sure it'll all work out fine as we're all on the same side! smile

it's not a public car park in the true sense - not run by the council.

its crown estate and private land effectively. the land owners have put parking there. the public are 'granted' access to the car park and the Virginia water estate as such. you have to pay for that.

its pretty obvious when you get there as I went last time and it was fab event

supercars to the right. every day shizzle/trolleys to the left. stick to that and you will be fine.

even the people walking dogs with the kids are interested as its a great spectacle.

have a 1.6 fiesta with red painted rear drum brakes and a golf R in there is not quite the Soup Du jour.

last time there was some dreadful yellow mk4 golf on that dreadful hydraulic suspension. am sure the guy probably spent enough on it to buy a supercar. Bernard!!

DasChin, I agree is Golf R is not a super car but rather a hot hatch back, but please do not insult a man's car that might be his pride and joy with the money, he can afford. I was really looking forward to going to meet some like minded people, but reading these posts tonight, don't think it's the right thing for me! Have a great time!

...We are having to limit the Supercar attendance to 300 cars, and our own display area will be clearly coned off for our use. This meet is purely an informal, friendly, safe static meet. No dangerous driving will be tolerated. Children & pets DO use the facility & WILL be in the car park...

...This is a Supercar/Hypercar meet, therefore we request that modified Fiesta's don't try to enter the car park. We can NOT over attend, we MUST remain in our dedicated area allowing for the remaining half to be used by the public who are visiting the lake. People attending in non-Supercars & taking spaces up in the public side will simply lead to the events being cancelled very quickly.
So if I attend in a non-supercar, I'll be taking up a space in the 'public' side -which will lead to the event being cancelled?

But supercars MUST keep to their allocated space, allowing the remaining half to be used by the public who are visiting the lake???

So if I turn up in a non-supercar just to see the supercars, I'm not 'the public' and should therefore stay away to avoid getting the event canned. Yet if I turn up to stroll to the Totem Pole, and grab a coffee from the cafe, and promise not to even peek in the direction of the supercars, I'll be most welcome? All this despite some obvious facts...

1. The Crown Estate (WGP) are allowing the event to go ahead in the FULL KNOWLEDGE that supercars attract punters. Punters who'll all have to pay the same £2 per hour fee regardless of whether they are walking a West Highland Terrier, or turning up solely to see supercars. Quite frankly, if the car park is full to capacity, TCE will not give a stuff whether the cars paying the fee are 'barried Fiestas' or Volvos full of Labradors

2. The point of the car park is to make money to pay for the upkeep of the parks and gardens. There are plenty of places where you can park, on Crown Estate land within WGP, for free. But the closer you are to the lake, the nice gardens, and the cafe/toilet facilities, the more you'll pay for the privilege. I'm quite sure that supercar fans (even ones in 'sump scraping' SEAT Leons) are at least as likely as Derek and Doris the Dachshund walkers to spend money in the cafe. Probably more likely, because Doris will take a flask, as she always does. Therefore a car park full of Instagramers is just 'Income' to TCE (WGP) just the same as a car park full of dog walkers (with the added bonus that car fans are less likely to leave turds on the footpath around the lake wink )

3. The only thing TCE (WGP) will be able to determine from a full car park is that the car park is full. They will not be able to tell 'lake users' from 'supercar fans' because some dog walkers will turn up in "Scened to death" Dubs, and some supercar fans might turn up in Volvo 940 estates. If 'the regulars' cannot get into the car park because it is full, they will complain. They are the sort of people who like to complain. But what will get your event canned is not 300 paying punters parked neatly between the lines in 300 spaces. It will be 300 supercars parked "imaginatively" in 500 spaces. In the post I've quoted, you say that space must be maintained for "the public using the lake", yet in the same breath you state that "People attending in non-Supercars & taking spaces up in the public side will simply lead to the events being cancelled"?
confused

So which is it to be? You want us to come and see the pretty baubles? Or you'd rather we 'mere mortals' stay the fk away so you can share the car park with some miserable pensioners, some toddlers on tricycles, and a couple of mean looking Rottweilers?

Because whether it was intended or not, your post was confusing, contradictory, and simply oozes snobbery. You may well not have meant it that way, but judging by reactions further up the thread, that's exactly how a significant number of contributors to the thread have understood it.

I don't care either way. I'll either attend, if I'm free, or I won't because we're off somewhere else. But please! It is, to all intents and purposes, a PUBLIC car park. I doubt TCE (WGP) give a damn whether paying punters are in the pub next door, walking laps of the lake, using it as a commute car park, or gazing in envy and wonderment at a super-rare AM DB9. All they care about is maximising the number of £2 per hour payments they get on any given Sunday. You're getting the car park because they reckon it'll pull in more punters, yet you yourself post on here actively discouraging those very punters from attending. It's all getting very AMOC 'blazer and tie' in here all of a sudden. Will you want some misfits and Walts in high-viz jackets to direct supercars to their spaces? And perhaps a Disco or two equipped with tow ropes and sand-channels in case of particularly tall speed bumps?

I didn't attend your first event. I forgot about it to be honest. But I liked the idea. Now I'm imagining a bunch of chinless wonders in branded 'driving shoes' and zip-up jackets backslapping and 'career laughing' while offering to "pop the bonnet so you can take a peak, old boy". I hope I'm wrong, but with posts like the one above? It's... The Impression That I Get

Guys, really is no snobbery about it.

We are trying to arrange get togethers for Supercar owners, not VW Golf G60's, not Subaru Impreza's, not Ford F150's.....

The only thing we are trying to avoid is the owners not allowing us back, because us & our visitors are taking over the whole car park, therefore leaving no room for the lake users (who DO & WILL complain), that simple.

Obviously these events will create a bit of a buzz, and people will be a bit curious & want to see, but remembering we are trying to organise cars & coffee style meets for Supercar owners.

Everybody is free to turn up & park in the public side, of course they are. But....... If we end up taking over the car park, we will not be asked back again.

Hope that makes it clearer ????
Yup. Got that. Crystal clear, big ten-four, wall to wall, and treetop tall.

Plebs! Your attention please! We are having a supercar coffee morning. We have a speshul arrangement with a landowner wot runs a car park. If you attend in your inferior automobiles, you will spoil said speshul arrangement, and we'll all have to bugger orf elsewhere to show off our trinkets. So please stay away if you don't own (or can't borrow) a supercar. That is all.

"Wrist check chaps! Ooh! I say, Tristan - is that the new Breitling Navitimer GT3 RS special edition, what? I bet that cost more than that awful chap's Barried-up Fiesta!"

No. Not a trace of snobbery about it... rolleyes

And for clarity? If I do come along (to save the profile stalkers the trouble it's a Ford Mondeo Titanium X -the 'TDCi 163' no less wink ) then I won't be "your visitor" at all. I'll be a paying visitor to Windsor Great Park (The Crown Estate).

If you find this "bit of a buzz" that you create to be a bit, well, 'common', then might I suggest that you eff orf and hire some wholly private venue where you can avoid prying eyes, and misbehave to your heart's content.
