With all these other free events there is no need for anyone without a supercar to turn up to the Virginia Water Event then, so no parking problems !!

Fuco I genuinely didn't know that Wilton or Goodwood did events you could go to spectate for free. The remark about no need to go to VW event then, was a joke, but I will consider myself wrist slapped and hope anyone who goes enjoys regardless of where they park.

Just a final note from me on this PH thread.

1) Apologies if the fiesta comment rubbed anyone up the wrong way, not intentional, BUT we are trying to organise a regular, free, safe, fun, SUPERCAR event.

2) As much as a certain contributor on here seems to think he knows the Crown, he does NOT. Busy parking meters does NOT mean that they will not listen to the many & various public complaints from people who genuinely want to walk their dogs around the lake & enjoy the rest of the park. IF on Sunday my request is not listened to, and IF we end up taking over the whole car park, there WILL be complaints from "Doris" because she can't park her car to enjoy the scenery. Really that simple.

3) I can only apologise for the inconsistency in the registration of cars. I was not personally responsible for the website registrations, or indeed the replies that followed. The person involved is no longer involved. All I can say is.... Sunday will very much be a test, if things need to change, then they will be. I will say this though...... It will be a huge shame if venues need to change, charges need to be applied, stricter rules & numbers need to be applied to etc etc..... It's supposed to be a FUN, FREE, SOCIAL event.

4) For those that have added to the list of cars with the sole purpose of having a laugh, or proving a point..... Great. Fine. Turn up. You're all welcome. BUT..... I have asked PH to remove the thread, and I did this as soon as I had confirmation that we had 300 cars coming. The mods chose to leave it running, not me. I find it a real shame that PH is just full of keyboard warriors. We will not be putting any further info, photos, dates, experiences on PH. it has ONLY been this thread that has had a negative response. Says something considering the sheer amount of people & organisations that attend. We not only have dealers, sales teams & restoration specialists but factories themselves attending!

As said, this is my last post on here.

I thank all of you who have ignored the negativity on here & have had the sense to contact me directly. I hope those PH members who are coming truly have a great morning.

anselmolee - Please confirm which of the PH members who added their names and cars to the list are welcome to park within the supercar area. ACR Nick seems to have deleted half the list...possibly accidentally but I'd rather not get out of bed early if I'm going to be turned away.

I've organised a couple of meets/runs and know its difficult to please everyone, but your efforts are appreciated by the vast majority.

...now just make sure it doesn't rain!

Genuine question when did an M3 or 996/997 porsches become classed as a supercar?

Are they not sports cars?

As for yellowjack I believe he has more understanding of the crown estate than most!

I'm loathe to post on the subject again, but there's been a shocking decision by policy makers at the Crown Estate...

The Windsor Great Park website said:
Our main car parks at The Savill Garden, Virginia Water and Virginia Water South are open daily from 7.45am (or dawn, if later) to 7pm (or dusk, if earlier) and reserved spaces for disabled visitors are provided. Car parking for The Savill Garden is situated directly in front of The Savill Building.

Payment machines at these locations accept cash or credit and debit cards. There are height restrictions at the entrances to the Virginia Water and Virginia Water South car parks. The Savill Garden is the only car park that accepts coaches.

If you are experiencing car parking issues in any of the car parks, please contact our team on 07825 430192.
PARKING TIME PRICE
Up to 1 hour £2.00
1 to 2 hours £4.00
2 to 3 hours £6.00
3 to 4 hours £8.00
4 hours or more £10.00
...with literally only days to go before this event, there has been literally NO CHANGE in the arrangements for use of the public car parks at the venue. Truly shocking, and wholly unforeseeable. Not even a mention of this event on their website, not even a non-specific warning about potential car park congestion, nor any suggestion that users attending any particular event might wish to park elsewhere.

I'm truly stunned by this unprecedented decision. It's almost as though CE think that they can carry on as normal?

Seriously? CE (WGP) will NOT be able to sieve out supercar fans from dog walkers from any information their automated car park monitoring might provide. Nor will any potential complainant. I'd like to know what measures you think CE would take to prevent their car parks from filling up on a hot summer day? Would they want to prevent their beautiful 'Royal Landscape' from being sullied by pasty white beer bellies being roasted in the hot sun in favour of having their dog-walking daily 'regulars' be able to park? Would the owner of ANY car park which provides conditional access for parking by members of the public in return for payment of a fee actually WANT empty spaces in said car park? On any given day, at any given time, any or all of the CE (WGP) car parks may become full to capacity. If some self important "regular" with an overblown sense of entitlement were to complain then, what do you suppose CE might say in reply? Increasing the number of car park spaces means eating into the parkland. THAT won't go down well, but it is the only solution to the car parks reaching capacity. A finite quantity of car park spaces means, by definition, that capacity may be reached, and possibly even exceeded (cars parked other than in marked bays, for example) at times. Those who arrive after capacity has been reached will simply be unable to park. It's the same at Wembley Stadium, Costco, or your local railway station. Yes, people might moan if their regular Sunday constitutional is derailed by a supercar event. But I stick by my assertion that it won't be the full 'public' half of the car park which will be the focus of any complaint. It will almost certainly be widely spaced, "imaginatively parked" supercars that will bear the brunt of any complaint, and that's because the area 'behind the velvet rope' is where empty, yet unusable parking spaces will be seen.

I've said my piece on this now. It saddens me that I've been seen as "anti" this event, because I'm not. I genuinely hope that this event goes ahead without a hitch, and that it continues to go on. I wish all participants and attendees only the very best for the day, and I'm crossing my fingers for some good weather for you all. I'm not in any way arguing against it. I'm merely suggesting that the likes of my (fictional) Doris and Derek, if they cannot park due to popularity of this event, won't rail against cars that look much like theirs. What they will rail against is "those wealthy, elitist posh boys and their fancy cars parking in a slap-dash fashion and taking up far more space than they need". Derek and Doris don't realise it, or won't admit it, but they are natural born hypocrites. They mither on about having worked all their lives, paid their taxes, been 'law abiding' citizens, and that they are 'Net Givers' to society. Yet they will complain at the drop of a hat about someone else having fun in a way that they don't themselves enjoy. They are insular and selfish, as are a great many members of society in our modern age. That is why they will complain, and if entities like CE don't stand up to this kind of bullying, then yes, events such as this will become difficult to put on. Motor racing, and track days, along with aviation, and to an extent some powered water sports are on the front line against the 'complain about everything' brigade. They will not complain "because the car park is full". What they will be complaining about is the supercars (and their owners) themselves, because they don't enjoy them, don't understand them, and see them as an unnecessary symbol of excess. I don't subscribe to their views myself, but I know plenty of people who do...

As for this thread being the only place there's been any negativity? Hardly surprising, since a quick Google search shows me that this is the only place where 'non-supercar' folk have been asked not to attend/park...

the Icons By The Lake facebook site said:
The Crown Estate have very kindly allowed us to use their facilities for the purpose of Static meets only, please do NOT arrive &/or leave the car park disrespectfully. The Lake & car park will still be operating normally & open to the public who WILL have Animals &/or Children. Their safety & comfort remains priority during our events.
...see? No mention there of any potential 'negative waves' regarding excessive attendance, nor could I see prominent mention of such issues on any of the many other places where info about the event can be found on the internet. You complain about negativity, yet it was you who brought it here (and seemingly only here) with your very first post in the thread.

I fully understand where you are coming from YJ smile You are dead right about Derek and Dorris complaining. Im hoping it will run smoothly smile

I do remember a few years ago a PH member had a pub in Kent (not far from Brands Hatch), many cars attended and we were all on private land, but when we left all the locals moaned and its never been on since frown
Shame as it was a nice venue.

yj are you still ranting on about this? good grief

shopping trolleys park on the left
supercars to the right

its pretty simple. even derek and doris should get it

everyone is gone by the time that most people wake up so it should not be a problem. its a polite request from the folks on here that half decent cars try to park on the right so there is a decent collection. not a jumble of everydayers with some special machinery.

seeing the F40, F50, koeniggsegg and XJ220 together was very special., no one needs a fiesta in the mix.

there was some tool last time round in some bazzed up mk4 golf painted yellow with that horrid American bouncy hydraulic suspension in the mix. it looked awful. truly scheit. especially parked near a 993 turbo 996 GT3 and 996 GT3 RS. use your loaf & park to the left.
